I think that if Tate can keep her cool and avoid the clinch, she can win. She needs to fight smart moving backward since Rousey will bum rush her. Tate also needs to be sure to avoid getting backed into the cage.

Tate is way over-rated by the tapologists at #2 P4P women and even a little at #3 in her division there are 4 or 5 fighters i will pick to beat her when she recovers from her upcoming arm injury

I have her ranked 6th in the UFC behind Mcmann , Davis and Kaufman and of course the champ and the true #1 contender Cat. And if I ranked outside of the UFC I would probably put Holm ahead of her as well.

Fight matrix has her at 10 lol. They have Nakai and Murphy ahead of her which I dont agree with at all and Pena and Eye who are both interesting and may be better than her but not yet.

While I do agree that there are several fighters that should be ranked above Tate, Holy Holm is kind of pushing it. She has fought nobodies with terrible records. Her manager is trying to build up a record like boxers do.

@mmown not sure how much credibility there is behind this but apparently Holm has a lot of difficulty finding fights b/c everyone turns her down. It may be a hype job but its also an explanation for why her record seems so padded.

I would bet that's true, but I would bet it's because they are treating her like a low level fighter with next to no experience, instead of treating her like someone that has 38 professional fights. They are trying to get her to fight newcomers instead of veterans. With the exception of trying to get her to fight Ronda who has possibly the worst striking in all of female mma.

How does Tate even have 15%??? She had a ton of trouble with Kedzie and then got TKOed by Zingano. It's hard to imagine how she could win this fight.

Yeah, but she also beat Zingano for 2 rounds (if Winslow hadn't stopped the fight she might have won, though I do think it was a good stoppage), Kedzie is always tough, she beat Marloes Coenen and has the ability to put Ronda on her back (where we don't know how she'll react yet since she's never been there).

Also, dog-hunting isn't a bad word.

Not saying I think Miesha will win (even though I picked her) but a 15% chance is more or less accurate and not as far-fetched as it's being portrayed in this thread.

Kedzie was able to effectively sprawl against Tate though, and Tate could not get Ronda down effectively in the first fight. I would think Ronda has gotten better, but with all the damage Tate took against Kedzie and Zingano I don't know if she has.

Tate would have to be an idiot to take Ronda down. That is Ronda's only strength. Tate needs to keep it standing, fight moving backwards with good strong counter cross to stop Ronda's bum rush. Keep moving to avoid the clinch and make sure to not get stuck against the fence. If Ronda doesn't get the clinch, she can't take Tate down and she can't win the fight.

@mmown, I have a feeling people are going to be surprised to see Ronda's ever improving striking and I'm not sure Miesha's is that good to make it her clear cut advantage.

As far as we've seen, Ronda's ground game is amazing when she's on top, no one knows how she'll fair being controlled from the bottom and I think that if Miesha could control Zingano for two rounds that way she's got good enough top game to give it a try.

I just saw a video of Ronda's improved striking. It's still terrible. She wings her elbows out when she moves and during the bob and weave drill she never had her hands above her chest. 

I do agree that Tate isn't the best striker, but she is much better than Ronda.

there were microchips in the boxing pads to make it sound louder when crybaby hit them. rousey is a poor striker who will get her nose broken so it matches cupcakes. remember the 15% underdog is the one you got to worry about.

While you may be right about her technique still not being the best, Tate has 4 years more MMA experience to have worked on her striking. Miesha started in 07, Ronda just showed up in 2011 and started taking names.

Miesha is so fake and talks so much for someone who lost so brutally and fast, I remember when she lost to Cat and after the fight at the post fight press conference she just kept going on and on about the stoppage and how angry she was.

I think that 15 % are reaching for Miesha to win because they don't like Ronda, not because you really think Tate has a chance at beating Ronda. That is laughable.

Wasn't Ronda at like 96% before TUF 18 aired? haha that show really turned some people against her. This is the first event in the Winter UFC contest, don't miss out on an easy 100 points people. I do hope that Meisha can make it out of the first round though, just to see how beast Ronda's cardio is. I don't see her as someone who tires easily.
