Hmmm, looks like somebody wants to cut in line once again....  I say too bad, it's his own damn fault he didn't want to wait 4 weeks for his title shot, instead cutting in the Featherweight line.  I say it's karma there.

I know he's long earned a shot, but if he had just waited till his turn, this drama wouldn't have happened...

I love how UFC signed guys are not supposed to ride motorcycles, but Dana gives them away like hotcakes.

That's not 100% accurate....Dana said he doesn't want guys riding while training for a fight or a bike to be their only mode of transportation.

Pettis is a ********* and Dana shouldn't even consider a second opinion on Pettis knee, he should put a stop on Pettis and make him wait.

Big Pettis fan here but TJ should get his shot first. If Anthony feels he's ready I get why he wants to be on this card of course. But he could maybe fight Lamas to revenge Koch, or take a fight at 155 not screw TJ out of his fight. He sure was in line before TJ, but that ended with the Aldo fight agreement...

I think Pettis is just being vocal about his desires. He was supposed to fight for the title against aldo, but he got hurt, so he doesn't want to miss out on the opportunity to fight for the belt. Aldo might not fight for the rest of the year after the Korean zombie fight, so I think Pettis just didn't want to get "stuck" either waiting lounging around for a year waiting for the fight, or taking another none title bout that he may think is not worth the risk given the leverage he has now. I still think TJ deserves the shot, and I still want to see Pettis fight Aldo, just cause I think he is the most talented fighter Aldo ever faced.

Pettis hasn't been able to fight often enough to start cutting in line. 3-1 in the last 30 months isn't very good for his activity or name value. In the same time frame Nurmagomedov is 11-0 (albeit, against inferior competition compared to everyone else on this list), Cerrone is 7-2, Benson is 7-0, Mendes is 5-1, Grant is 5-0, Swanson is 4-1. Pettis' inability to stay healthy means he stays out of the limelight for so long that he can't really build his name. Frankly, at this point he needs to come in and beat at least 1 top fighter before he's given a title shot at any weight class. I can see Pettis having to beat Nurmagomedov, Healy, or Thomson before he gets a crack at the 155 belt. I say 155 because I think if Aldo even stays at 145, which is questionable to say the least, they will have some contenders that are ready to go in Ricardo Lamas, Mendes/Guida winner, Siver/Swanson winner, Nik Lentz, Conor McGregor (assuming he wins at least 2 more and gets a win over a top 15 guy).

That's what happens when you get greedy. He should've just taken the LW title shot. Now he's gotta wait for both.

Where in the hell do you get the idea that Maynard isn't top 10? He went 1-1-1 with the guy who was the #1 lightweight. He beat Florian, Miller, Diaz, and Guida. There was no reason for him not to be ranked that high before the Grant fight, and he's still top 10.

Also, Pettis needs to shut up. He decided to drop to 145 and totally screw up that title picture when there were a bunch of deserving 145ers. Then he gets injured and now he wants to go back to 155 and take away another guy's title shot 4 weeks after his injury.

Was? In the eyes of most, Frankie Edgar is STILL the number one lightweight in MMA.

Anthony Pettis, you lost to Clay Guida. Everything you say is irrelevant.

This is probably the most ******** thing Pettis will have ever said in his career (i hope).... To bow out of a title fight in a weight class you haven't fought, then say you deserve the LW title shot instead of a guy who isn't injured cuz it's in Milwakee? Grow up Pettis, that's just ****** up!

Maynard is definitely top 10. Maybe even top 5. Pettis is probably going to have to take another fight or wait out the KZ/Aldo or Benson/Grant fight and hope the winner isn't too banged up.

pettis can take both ben and aldo. He can win in either division.

Ben Henderson has got better faster that i have ever seen he is not the same guy that fought Pettis in WEC if he did get the rematch he would get dominated now that Ben has learned just how to use all that freak strength he has. I would be more interested in Pettis vs Nurmagomedov or Gilbert to earn the shot after Grant vs Henderson

Keep in mind that their fight was very close up until that kick. I had it 2-2 entering the 5th. Pettis misses that kick, we have a completely different fight.

Nah, the fight was tied going into the 5th round that Pettis won, with or without Showtime kick.

Though the Showtime Kick ended up being the signature moment of that fight, I believe this happened later in the round.

Flying knee intercepting a takedown attempt. Ouch.......... Pettis won the fight 3-2 even without the kick like Anik said (this coming from a Benson fan).

I'm just saying that if you take the kick away, the fight became even closer, and who knows what the judges would've decided and who knows what Benson does without being rocked.

Keep in mind that I'm not taking anything away from Pettis. I'm bringing up that the first fight was very close. We focus on the kick, but there was much much more to that fight.
