I think JDS beats Cain in an exciting back-and-forth much like the Carwin fight. What I'd really like to see is JDS v. Overeem. That would be a beautiful thing. Hopefully, Overeem commits to fighting in the UFC, although there are going to be significant obstacles to getting this done (K1 participation; the money he gets in Japanese promotions w/o restrictions on when and where he can fight, etc.).

Not to mention he would have to win the grand Prix to get a UFC title shot.

@blackwork. i'm convinced that JDS defeats Velasquez. I think he is faster and could defend the takedowns of Cain.

I'll take a stab at it. Velasquez -145. JDS,  +120.

Pretty close to even...JDS is a slight favorite...Which surprises me a little!

Maybe if Cain was coming into the fight without the shoulder injury preceding it, he'd be the favorite. But I think there is some legitimate concern of whether or not Cain comes back 100% the way he used to be.

Overeem/JDS would be awesome, but there are a few things that make me think JDS takes it, despite Overeem being the superior striker. First of all, Overeem always struggles against guys who can hit hard. JDS will do that, and he's fast, accurate and powerful, which could prove to be a big trouble for Overeem's poor chin (he got ko'd by a number of LHW's). Also, Junior showed very explosive takedowns against Nelson and Carwin, and I think he could use those if he was getting outstruck.

I'm surprised JDS is the favorite against Cain. I won't pick against him, but I think Velasquez wins that fight.

I don't think Cain's chin will be able to hold up to the barrage of punches JDS will be throwing at him.

lol @ using that gif as a way to say cain has a bad chin. He got hit with a cross and a right hook by one of the hardest punchers he could fight and it didnt put him out.

I think Gregory nailed it with the injury speculation. That is being factored in and JDS's performance against Carwin was pretty impressive.

I was SURE when carwin landed jds was going to go down so Im now less confident in saying overeem would put him out.  Stylewise I think overeem is a better match up for jds than carwin was but i dont know.

Two hits from Kongo couldn't put Cain out. That said I do think Overeem hits way harder (thanks to his horse meat diet) and a couple of hits from him would see Cain's' night end early. Not saying Cain would lose but that if he got tagged I doubt he'd be able to recover from them.

If Overeem wins the heavyweight tourney, I would like to see him go against who ever is the UFC heavyweight champ. However if he loses then a match between him and JDS (or Cain) would be awesome.

Edit: I did lol. I was concentrating on not getting the names mixed up and yet I did it twice >_<
