Okami's probably not a bad pick. I'm surprised the odds are that much in Marquardt's favor. But if anyone is thinking that Okami will be able to beat Marquardt in the same way that Chael Sonnen did, I kind of doubt it. Okami can wrestle but not like Sonnen.

I agree that Okami has the strength, durability, and wrestling ability to put Marquardt on the canvas and win a decision, but I agree with Greg in that he doesn't possess the sort of explosive power or wrestling technique to keep him there for three rounds ala Sonnen. I see a competitive fight that Marquardt ultimately wins by Decision

Personally, I scored the fight 30-28 Okami, and that is exactly how Fightmetric scored the bout. I'm not making that up. I had Okami winning round 1 10-9, round 2 I gave a 10-10, and round 3 I gave to Okami 10-9.

I had it in favor or Marquardt at 29-28. Round 1 I gave to Marquardt for the submission attempts. Round 2 the standup was essentially even so the deciding factor went to Marquardt for the take downs. Round 3 was pretty even as well but I gave it to Okami on aggression and control.

Fight was a letdown for me. Seemed like both fighters were afraid of losing rather than attacking and winning. Easier said than done I guess but still a letdown.

Gotta watch it again. I remember thinking Marquardt got round 2 for the takedowns, but there was also a point at which Marquardt started bleeding pretty heavily from the face and was backing up while Okami was walking him down. I could see that turning the whole perspective of the fight in the judge's minds.
Round 3 I thought Marquardt was landing the heavier shots, but he was still mostly counterpunching and backing up a lot. I'm not shocked they gave it to Okami.

Totally agree with that. Really the fight should of been too important to either to hope to eek out a decision either way. Even though I gave Nate the decision I didn't feel like he was robbed. I think it works out better for the fans overall. There is a better past with Okami and Silva, they have unfinished business. Of course that's if Silva defeats Belfort.
