Prediction: Nelson  |  Submission  |  Round 1

http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/02/gunnar-nelson-meets-mike-pyle-at-mays-ufc-160-in-las-vegas

Holy ****! **** just got real! :)))

I have no idea how to pick this one ... Gunnar's a beast but he's a bit raw tends to leave himself open and Mike Pyles been around the block a couple of times and can put people to sleep if they depend on their chin for defense ...

For now I'm going with a first round sub for Nelson, but in no way or form am I confident with that prediction.

This is a great test for Gunnar...pretty sure I'll be picking Nelson, but won't be surprised at all if Pyle wins against another highly touted prospect

Great fight, though. I give it to Pyle. He is on a post-apex rampage.

Dang maybe this fight is too much too early, Gunny could win it on the ground but Pyle is no slouch there either.

Pyle has been on a tearing **** up lately, going with him to KO the prospect. But only if he is rocking the mullet for the fight, that mullet gives him so much extra strength.

Taking Pyle in this one.It seemed to me in Gunnar's last fight he showed weakness on the feet.I think Pyle being the veteran he is will find the holes and win the fight.

Outside of his fight with Rory, Mike Pyle's made a fan out of me with his performances over the last few years.  I always knew him as the WW who made his debut against Rampage and was the first and only guy to ever choke out Jon Fitch who's now earned a reputation as being a fighter who is impossible to choke out.  Obviously Fitch was green, but whatever, still cool.

I'm taking Pyle in this fight because of how great he's looked.  Gunnar's still a solid prospect, but his last fight didn't exactly have me in awe.  Pyle's just looked better.

Also I haven't even seen MIB III yet, but I just checked to see how long it's been since Pyle's last fight and found out that he actually played a small part in that movie?  I really need to get around to seeing that.

Oh I like this. Pyle is a helluva fighter and Nelson is going to be a top ten WW someday. No idea who to pick.

Rory was a prospect who got passed him, but we're talking about Rory. I'm probably going to go with Pyle here. Gunnar doesn't have the power that Rory does, and that's what he used to beat Pyle.

Pyle gets better after every loss. All 3 of his last wins have ended in the first by KO. This will be the likely outcome. Pyle should seriously get contender status after this.

@amp112 Exactly. Rory MacDonald and Gunnar Nelson are in completely different leagues.

While Nelson does have an excellent ground game (no ****), his striking is still weak and needs work.

If Gunny has been working on his striking, I could see him keeping pace enough to get it to the ground and not get KO'd.  Pyle is one of those guys who always impresses though so I'm pretty stoked for this one.

Bummed this fight was cancelled.  I thought this was a good chance for Pyle to derail another hype train and probably earn a fight with a top 10.  Guess a win over Story can do the same.
