If I was Wolf in that position, I would have done the same god damn strategy. I think since we have something as a prize in this season (even regardless of that), we should take the mulligan out. It's like rewarding the champion team the overall first pick in the draft.

I don't agree with mulligan bets, it's not part of sports betting anywhere, I'm fine with being able to use it once but not infinitely the whole season. He's only allowed to do that once correct?

its been used and I have it no more.  no such thing as bonuses either but we have them. I did not do those either. all the parlay bonuses. I only remember rewarding huge parlays accomplished. I never even look at the spreadsheet so I have no idea how many bonuses there are. I just wager on MMA. here are  half of my wagers(6 fights) for the next upcoming ufc event.

20,000 on Moraga

5000 on MacDonald

5000 on Lawlor

5000 on Carmouche

5000 on Masvidal

5000 on Means.

the rest when I see the weigh ins

Well we can easily take a vote on the mulligan...people voted and wanted to start the season with all the same amount and I just put the mulligan there because I thought whoever wins the season should at least get something out of it.

So if you want to keep the 1 time mulligan for the winner of the season up vote this and if you want to get rid of it then down vote this.

I still think even if the down vote wins the winner should at least get something right? Maybe not maybe bragging rights is enough. But if you down vote this and can think of something else we can offer the winner? I mean this season yeah you can win some cards from me but I can't really guarantee I can give something from my collection up every season.

@lopati and as far as mulligan your right there is none in real life but the bonuses aren't in real life either, and this also isn't real money it just for fun so I don't think it's too big a deal if we stray from real betting. I like the bonuses because it gives an incentive to make different bets.

I'm cool with it, I just didn't know it was awarded to Wolfman. I think it's ok as long as its a one time thing and can't be reused. Also I think it should be used within the beginning of a new season, like a time limit. So if someone were to build up a huge amount than use it towards the end it would give a considerable edge. Wolfman did use it in the beginning too, so it's all good in my books.

Since it looks like the vote on the Mulligan is leaning towards removing that perk for the winner and you mentioned you'd like to see the previous season's winner get more than bragging rights or a prize, how about a bet with house money that has stipulations (the stipulations, and it being house money is what would make it differ from being a mulligan).  For instance, the winner of a season heading into the next season, at any time can make a bet with house money but it has to be exactly 20% of their bankroll and on a fighter +200 or higher.  If the bet is lost, their bankroll is unaffected since it was house money, if won, only the earnings add to the bankroll, not the amount wagered also.  This would at least keep the previous season's winner from putting their entire bankroll on someone (could make it 10% also instead of 20%), and it avoid's putting the money on any `locks` (could do +200, +250, +300, etc.)  Just an idea since it is easier on the palate compared to the winner getting to put their entire bankroll on what some may consider a `lock` but the lines are only say -225.  Could even not have the odds stipulation and just have a % of bankroll stipulation.  I think what people don't like is that the previous winner can put the entire bankroll down without any risk.  Sportsbooks don't have mulligans, but they do have house money bets to those who earn them.  Having a house money bet, they could still wager their entire bankroll on an event since they would have to announce the house money bet in advance and the wager would be a set % of their bankroll that is calculated when the bet is made, not when it occurs, and possibly only to be used on a certain level of underdog.   Just an idea that may be more accepted than a free balls to the wall mulligan.

Sounds like some people might get confused with that idea.

I think the funny thing with this is right now its 4-1 in favor of removing the mulligans and on the the 2nd page of this thread it was 3-1 in favor of having the mulligan and no one really spoke out about it then. And the only downvote was because hiblet accidentally did it on his phone so really it was 4-0 in favor of the mulligan. But I just want people to be happy with the game so we can remove the mulligan from now on.

I'm fine with whatever the majority wants.  Sounds like it's a bit of a non-issue this season anyways.

Thanks Anik, he is keeping his mulligan either way since the rule was already in place the vote is basically whether or not to keep it in place for the future seasons.

kpro has the right idea. that's what I think we should do for next season if poir agrees and most of the others who play.

I stayed at the Grand Sierra Resort and part of my deal was I got 1, 100 dollar coupon to wager on one of the major horse races. I never wager on horses but since it was a freebie   I just took the longest shot there was on the race. the long shot one. you could not exchange the coupon for cash or use it at any other game at the casino. I actually watched the race and most of the people in the sportsbook  must of taken the favorite cause they had some sad faces at the end. It just happened once in my 49 years. it was right time at right moment.

I don´t have anything against the mulligan or wolfman winning that bet, he made his play and worked for him this time but is not like it always be the same.

if the mulligan is still on for next season I think it should be used only at the begining like someone already said

if you take out the mulligan I like kpro´s idea, I don´t think is complicated and  in the end only 2 people needs to understand it: poir and the winner of this season

OK so let's just axe the mulligan and go with KPro's idea then.

So the winner of this season will earn a house bet. It is a one time bet and the bet amount will be 20% of your total bankroll. If you lose then nothing happens. If you win then you get the earnings from that bet and not the amount bet. The fighter that you use for this bet can't be favored by more than -150.

How does that sound to everyone? If anyone disagrees now would be the time to say something and not at the start of next season when someone goes to use it =)

I like it Poir, makes it simple, they announce it in advance, and it can't be a full on entire bankroll freebie on a lock.  Gives the winner a little flexibility to use it when they see a line they really like as well without guaranteeing they jump out to a big lead by making it 1/5 of the bankroll in house money so the entire bankroll can also be bet on an event as well.
