With a win over martin kampman. jake didn't exactly make a splash in his ufc debut. Do you think that with another win over a good welterweight will he get a title shot

dana white says shields will already get the next title shot but i don't know if he will follow through with it or not. i think GSP destroys jake shields

Shields would get absolutely lit up against GSP. I don't even think his particular brand of Jiu-Jitsu would threaten GSP on the ground either. Bad match-up all around for Shields.

I think Jordan Breen made a point about Shields vs GSP the other day. His opinion (unless it was someone else) was that the UFC probably expects GSP to smash Jake Shields, which is exactly why they would put the fight together. They'd like to see GSP put on an exciting win and get a finish.
Kind of a morbid way to look at it, but might be some truth to it.

That's definitely a possibility. I also think the UFC sometimes gets a bit of morbid satisfaction by shutting up so-called hardcore fans who only root for fighters outside of the UFC and somehow think they are the uncrowned champ of the weight-class. Sometimes the hype is justified, and in Shields's case, I certainly think he is a top 5 WW, but sometimes the talk of him possibly being the best is ridiculous.
