Same here. Stann just has too much power and Wandy's chin has seen better days. Maybe we will see a successful blitzkrieg from Wandy in the opening round that blasts Stann away.

After Stann knocks him out Wandy needs to retire.

Interesting.  I wasn't aware this was at light heavyweight either.  Either weight class, I give Stann the edge.  If Silva does get knocked out again, he should probably consider retirement.

Tough fight to call.  Silva is fading and Stann is vastly overrated.  Could go either way, but I'll go with the guy I want to win.

I hate seeing Wandy lose, but I just can't see his chin holding up if Stann connects.

Dont know what all the confusion is about? Wanderlei said at the conference, he is going to beat Stann via 3rd round KO. He promised!

Hope the majority is wrong.  It just won't seem the same without Wanderlei Silva in MMA.  Hate when an era ends this way.

Loved that he looked Neanderthal, sounded Neanderthal and fought Neanderthal.

I can't let my admiration of my favorite fighter of all time skew my fight picking intelligence and because of this I'm going with the younger and overall more explosive fighter in Stann. I think we'll all see fireworks in the 1st and then Wand slowing down in the 2nd and this is when Stann will connect with something devastating and finish Wanderlei and send him into retirement. Wanderlei Silva has been my personal favorite fighter since I first saw him in the cage, but his Pride performances and title run are to this day one of mma's crowning achievements. It's gonna be a huge disappointment to watch him lose to Stann, but all  great fighters must hang them up eventually and being 3 and 7 in his last 10 fights I think the time has come for Wand to do just that. It's definitely not gonna be the same with him not competing anymore but I hope he stays involved in the sport for years to come by offering his experience to younger up and coming fighters by coaching.

@twodragunns, i admire the fact that you pick with your head. some guys i can't just do it with, Silva being one. my head does tell me Silva is in trouble, but I'm still going to pick him. To be fair, the people who've knocked him out and made his chin look "suspect", have all been hard hitters, vitor, cro cop, rampage, hendo, leben. stann hits really f'n hard too so we'll see. i really like stann but i love wanderlei

This is a tough one to pick, because while I recognize that Wand's better days are way behind him, I also think Stan is a tad overrated.

Wand didn't look bad at all against Franklin, and has wins over Bisping and Le, who aren't exactly scrubs at middleweight.Meanwhile, Stann has a nice highlight reel, but he has come up short against every top guy that he has fought, other than Leben.

If he can catch Wand, he certainly can put him out. However, I think that technically Wand is on another level, and will weather Stann down, and pound out a broken Stann late in the third. Then hopefully we can get Wand vs. Rogerio for a meaningful retirement fight for Wand.

Wandy has turned into a wild card, but he's been ending up on the poor side of those. Last 5 fights:

Almost knocked out Franklin.
Knocked out Le
Dazed Leben
Beat Bisping
All out war with Franklin that many thought Wandy won.

It's not like he doesn't have his moments. He very easily could have went 4-1 instead of 2-3

It would be awesome if Wanderlei submitted Stann.  I mean, he is black belt, and Stann is still a beginner.  You never know, right?

Hey amp,

Though i agree with most of what you have said. Those people who thought Wandy won are blinded by fanboy love. There is no way you could argue him winning that fight. He did less damage and got hit more while controlling less of the cage. It was clear 29/28 and could have even been a 30/27. The closest round was the one round Wandy won.

@Franklin.  No doubt in my mind that Franklin won at UFC 99, just putting it out there that people think Wanderlei won. Haven't seen that fight in a while, but I believe it was round 2 that they gave Wandy. I believe I gave him that round too. Rounds 1 and 3 were not won by very much. Wandy came up just a bit short in both, IMO, which is why people who give Wandy the fight and not be called crazy.
