Seems Jose was ill and required anti-biotics.  Great observation(s) by the person who broke this story.  It really explains why Jose gassed the way he did.

I'm bumping this b/c I keep seeing it mentioned that Jose may have been weight drained and his cut may have been bad...

It turns out it was that he was ill and required anti-biotics that he did not take apparently.

I think it's probably true.  And I also think the layoff coming from a back injury could have an effect.

I don't think you can use these as excuses, because every fighter deals with stuff like this and we often never hear about it.   But when it comes to evaluating Aldo's performance and breaking down how we think he will do in subsequent matchups, I think it's reasonable to expect he will be improved.

Considering his 5 rounds with Faber and the fact that his camp never went public, but someone translated a coversation in their corner leads me to believe it is true and we will see a much more dominant Aldo.

Yeah, he went 5 with Faber fine, but he gasses in round 2 against Hominick. Something was fishy.

Yeah, I saw that on BE earlier today, I was glad to hear it. I was just sayin, people will think this is some kind of elaborate excuse, but something was clearly goin on considering how well he did in 5 rounds against Faber.

How about that. Aldo being ill helped produce a MOTY contender o_O

Do you think we'll see a rematch between Hominick and Aldo? I wouldn't say no to it myself.

@Mino.. Agreed!

@Ninja.. I would not be opposed to a rematch, just an immediate one.  Hominick only needs .. maybe two more wins to get another shot.  He upped his appeal, his ranking, his everything with his heart and performance.

It is almost a comfort to me (I love Aldo) that there was acutally a reason for it.

Sure can't and I'm glad even Aldo and his camp realize that as well.  Classy guy and class act camp imo.

Right at the start of this fight I was going for Aldo simply because I picked him on tapology but come like the 3rd round i was ******* screaming for Hominick to win he made me a fan.

Me too.  I wasn't a real fan of his until that fight.  He probably turned a lot of people around to him after that fight.
