What happens if Condit and GSP draw? However unlikely.

Normally, in the event of a draw the champ keeps his belt. Does that mean that Condit would still be the interim champ?

I'm sure with GSP being back the interim belt will be void, but still I haven't heard of this happening before.

Yeah if they draw they will both keep their belts and I'm sure a rematch will be booked.

Let us hope that doesn't happen.

Exactly.  Immediate rematch.

A draw would be the worst thing for the WW division. They have so many guys ready for a title shot in that division.

A draw would technically mean they both keep their titels. Doubt that will happen though.

Before the actual fight, the UFC should approach both fighters and suggest inserting into the contracts, that should the fight end in a draw, there would be Victory Rounds until a decisive decision is arrived at.

Both fighters would be sure to agree to that.  Neither one wants an inconclusive result, which would be unsatisfying to both guys.

As a matter of fact, that should be the UFC official policy for all fights that end in draws.  Fans hate draws.

^^^^It is against the Unified Rules of MMA. It would never happen due to the state athletic commissions barring fights from going over 25 minutes. That is the big reason why we will never see 1 night tournaments. If you want to see how it has ruined 1 night tournaments, look up YAMMA Pit Fighting.

@Bill Also what happens when the extra round is super close as well...You can't prevent draws from happening and there should be more imo. If the judges can't decide just score it 10-10 rather than give it to the wrong guy.

In a title fight however it's not really good when it happens, see Edgar/Maynard the whole division has to wait and it's annoying...

So there is no real solution other than better, qualified and experienced judges.

I wish there were many draws in MMA.

When two fighters have a very even fight and neither convincingly won, it was a draw.  The wins and losses on their records for these fights are misleading.

Shogun and Hendo had a draw. That's what it should be on their records, too, so that fans looking back can understand what happened.

Immediate rematch, the UFC has been really milking the idea of this being a 'champion vs champion' match. Hell, in the Primetime episode 1 they made it seem like Condit was the champ and GSP was the challenger.

If they draw, Condit is just a regular fighter and GSP will be the champion, there won't be an interim champion because GSP would have defended his belt.

Gosh, you people should know better. For shame.

In Primetime, GSP seems to say that he is the real challenger.  I think he longs for being the underdog.

When a young lion tries to take over the pride, he must first drive off the old, ruling pride male.  If he cannot, he cannot mate with the females.  Think of the fans as the pride of females.  A King must rule according to rules.  Heavy rests the head that wears the crown.

If this fight ends in a draw, the fans will not recognize Carlos as the best.  We all know what GSP can do.  Carlos is the one who is trying to make his mark, establish his credentials and plant his flag.  A draw will not do what he wants to do in the eyes of the fans.

Carlos must find some way to win, one way or another, to plant his flag, claim his title and take over the pride.  Tribal rules are not easily set aside.  Usurpers are not kindly welcomed.  Lineage must be preserved by a clean passage of title & inheritance.

If the fight is a draw and Condit doesn't get a rematch that would be lame.

Condit shouldn't be able to get a rematch though, seeing as he doesn't even deserve to be called champion.

well if he can go to a draw with GSP then I think he deserves a rematch. I know you hate him and all but if Maynard got a rematch from a draw then so will Condit.

The more I think of this fight, the more I see Carlos having a hard time.  Once he's on the ground, do you all realize how much smaller he is?  His frame is frail and GSP is massive.  GSP has a chest and Carlos is skinny.  GSP has real shoulders & arms and Carlos has spaghetti arms.

How will Carlos ever push off such a bigger, stronger man?  Who wrestles so much better?

To all who say Carlos has a great ground game - not against GSP-level of wrestler, he doesn't.  Carlos' only possible chance is a Royce Gracie-level of aggressive submission attack off his back.

And Carlos has NEVER shown that level of miraculous skill.  Carlos is not Gracie off his back.  Good is not great and Carlos will have to arrive great.  Royce Gracie-level great.  And I just don't see how he can evolve that far in so short a time.  Maybe they should have imported a Gracie into the Greg Jackson Albuquerque gym.

Just a point but Belfort never showed good submissions off his back yet almost submitted one of the best fighters in the world off his back. Let's just let the fight do the talking.

Difference is, Belfort slapped a sub on Jones, who had never been in that position before. GSP has been in trouble like that before.

There are plenty of submissions off the back that GSP hasn't been put into. For people to say that GSP is bigger means that he is going to have a hard time is just ridiculous.

CONDIT729 should be banned from all GSP/Condit-related threads.

With that being said, no **** Condit would get a rematch if he were to draw with GSP for anyone to argue against that is absurd. But he won't draw with GSP.
