That would be a great fight. Sucked that it didn't happen when it was scheduled earlier.

Belcher has never looked better in his career, fending off Palhares and GnP to finish himm. I expct this to go to the mat, Belcher scrambles and tests Okami's chin (very shaky of late)

They fought back in 2006, with Okami coming out on top. I'm split here. Belcher obviously is a better fighter now than he was when he lost to Okami, but it's hard to count Okami out of this one either. I think it's worth noting that the win against Paul Harris was likely the best victory of Belcher's career. Okami's beaten better guys than Paul Harris and I think he'll prevail over Belcher again.

Okami is on the decline but there is quite some hype on Belcher. Belcher's record shows a lot of mid-level fighters. He has never fought a top guy outside Palhares who has been exposed lately himself. Okami should win this fight if he follows his gameplan, keeps his cool and avoids power punches. Grappling will be the key to victory for Yushin towards a decision.

Some fighters do that, ie. chew on stuff before fights (see also Bendo and his toothpick). It loosens the jaw and lessens the chance of being KO'd.

Some don't even need stuff:

"If the enemy rejects the ground, I would take him down by tackle. Why didn’t he [Royler] do so? May I introduce him to a good coach? His tackle was... like a girl’s one... Mr. Royler, how are you feeling?" - Kazushi Sakuraba

That Bigfoot invisible gum was from before the Cain massacre at UFC 146. You're correct about chewing stuff being also used to make your body believe you're eating while cutting weight. Chewing ice in particular I think also helps with keeping your mouth from going too dry when you're dehydrated.

I think Belcher is the most well rounded MW in the UFC. He has looked really impressive as of late and I think he will continue to look impressive against Okami.

I don't want to sell Okami short because he has wins over Munoz and Marquardt and has strength and size. But Belcher also has these, and I would have to say that he is better on the ground. I'd say Belcher's skill set is better overall, especially on the ground, and even though Okami is a big guy, I'd give the grappling/wrestling to Belcher. Belcher, I'd say, is hungrier. Okami is ranked higher, but that's because Belcher was out more than because Okami is better. Belcher is younger, has a better reach, and a better skill set; the only possible worries are that he 1) blows it/doesn't use his head, or 2) that his past TKO losses (1 being bogus, the other where he gave in) were actually indicative of a weak chin, neither of which I think will happen.

I see Belcher being aggressive enough to caution Okami, who will be more timid as Belcher remains aggressive. I also think Belcher will rely on more on power and physicality. But if Okami wins, I won't be shocked.

Rockz you are spot on......Okami is so timid sometimes it's like he forgets he's in a fight. Belcher will be the agressive one. He'll push the pace and finish Okami with a barage of punches.

I picked the wrong guy, and I said Belcher would only lose if his chin turns out to be bad or if he blows it. Well, he blew it. He should've known Okami was going to smother him; it's all he could do, and the fact that Okami did do it showed that he knew standing and risk grappling with Belcher would be suicide. And Belcher had two big punches that he didn't follow up on. Plus, Belcher allowed Okami to get closer/got closer to Okami when he shoud've known size was Okami's best chance at winning. I'm still looking at Belcher to improve, and it's good to see Okami not slip 3-4 in his last 4, he's a good guy and a fight smarter; here, he did exactly what he needed to do.
