Well, they've only been trying to put this fight together for over 2 years now, but maybe it'll happen this time.

Sakara is my favorite fighter so I hope he can dispatch Rivera... without any illegal knees or saliva-related incidents.

Should be a great slugfest.

Kissing ass or kicking ass is usually good job security lol. Guys like Sakara and Rivera are really really important to the UFC. They arent likely to fight for titles but they are great high action fighters that could save a bad card. Every promotion needs more guys like them.

They are what you could call "title fight insurance".  In case a title fight bombs (Anderson vs Maia), the UFC needs this type of fight/figher!  Well said Heroak.

they should keep Rivera around just solely for a injury replacement fighter

He does have a decent sized fan base. He always puts on a show and is really fun to watch. Hes the type of fighter that losing to doesnt look terrible on your record but beating him looks really good still. I wouldnt consider him a gatekeeper, hes more like a gatekeeper for gatekeepers lol.
