what a pile of crap, glad I lost that fight and I will NEVER pick that guy.  Hope he gets a punishment from your commission for being UNSPORTSMANLIKE.

Too much of that crap going on. Fighters should be required to touch gloves before they throw a punch.

In January a guy was DQ'ed after a fake glove touch cheap shot. It should happen often, after all it is an intentional foul.

lol I asked wakester to video this fight, thank god he listened and I got to see this hilarious ****move.

Actually it doesn't look to me like Meunier ever acts like he is going to touch gloves.  The angle of the video is not perfect but it seems like he comes right out with his hand ****ed the entire time.  Houle awkwardly hesitated and he should have been paying closer attention that his opponent was not looking to touch gloves. 

They touched gloves in the first and second round though.. It's not like they didn't do it for the entire fight and all of a sudden Houle decided he wanted to start touching gloves. He was right to expect another touch IMO.

Alright.  Well then it was cheap but not a trick.  Some guys act like they are going to touch gloves with their arm out-stretched, and then they quickly unload a punch as the touch is about to happen. A

Yeah from what I saw, Meunier didn't faked anything, he simply never intended to touch goves in the third round (after doing it in the first and second..)

Kind of a cheap shot, but that guy was a dumb ass for just assuming the other dude would touch gloves, especially if it's not the 1st round. 

That's one reason I like Nate Diaz.  Before and after the fight, he'll be cool with you, but if you try to touch gloves after that bell rings, expect to get slapped.

On the contrary ... fighters touch gloves during the ref's rules stating (AKA staredown). Once the bell rings it's a fight and though it's more sportsmanlike to touch gloves, you can't require it.


If you're gonna touch gloves AGAIN (since you've already done so during the staredown) you'd better make damned well sure the other fighter's thinking the same thing.


Even if the other fighter faked a glove-touching motion and then clocked you, it's a fight tactic. A ******-bag fight tactic, but still a tactic, and it shouldn't be illegal because that would be tampering too much with what goes on inside the cage. We have to find the line between not liking something and making it a rule because too many rules will kill the game. The only rules in MMA should be ones that are health preservation rules. Rules that try to enforce sportsmanship will kill all of our "MMA bad boys" and they are more than necessary to the fight game. This is a sport of fighters, not all of them are nice guys (would you watch it with the same passion if they were?) :)


The glove touch is something that was generated due to fighter's respect for each other, if you want to make it mandatory, do so before the bell rings (and even then it's a questionable thing to do, tell me that you don't get that little bit more hyped up for the fight if it starts without the glove touch at the staredown).

G-reg, I think you are on to something there.  How convenient For WAKE to get teh perfect by those devious tactics.  Something is Amiss here.

It is legal and within the rules, but it shows not sportmanship at all, I've seen fighters that do not want to touch gloves and the other fighter has his arm extended and they shake his head to le him know they won't touch gloves and fight, but this guys just comes right at him and punch him, besides, what does he thinks he is a better fighter than him now?, this fight is complete meaningless just as his win.

Of course it's legal. The ref said "FIGHT", not "Ok guys... touch gloves, hug, and then you can fight"

But is it how you wanna win?

DUDE! Ask Donald Cerrone if Diaz is cool with you before the fight!!! LOL!


Diaz himself said that he ain't looking to be friends with someone he's fighting or even someone he MIGHT be fighting along the road.


He may (or may not) be cool with after the fight, but he's definitely not cool with you before the fight.


BTW, I'm not saying that's good or bad, to each his own, and if that's what he needs to keep his "fight face" on, then that's what he's supposed to do. Just saying, no way he's cool with you before the fight.

totally fair and clean if you ask me, its MMA not touch gloves during every round of the match. theres a reason why the ref says touch gloves now before the fight starts not at the start of every round
