Gotta go with Newell, it is just bad ass what he has been able to accomplish in the sport!

Sonething interesting I read a whole ago is that Newell is friends with WWE's Curt Hawkins.

great story, war Newell. The dude's a ******* great wrestler, it's amazing to watch him in the Octagon. I suggest you guys look up his fights on youtube, his wrestling ability is remarkable, I don't know how he does it with one arm.

Amazing what this "crazy one armed bastard" can do, but will he ever get a shot in the big leagues? I hope he keeps winning anyway...

If you guys watched that fight live.. you would see that this kid is absolutely legit.  He was by far the most impressive of the night.

If he wins another couple I'm sure he'll get a shot with the UFC.  Heck, depending on how his XFC contract is structured, maybe he gets signed right now. Depends if he's locked down or not.  Either way...

a) if he doesn't lose, he's earned it like anyone else would earn it
b) it's too good of a feel-good/marketing opportunity for the UFC to just ignore

That said he was within a moment of being choked out in his last fight before this one. His heart (big time) and the bell saved him.  The fights are only going to be tougher and tougher.

@gregory i think the UFC should pick him up if he has at least two more fights like this.

he definitely should get picked up. He won't stay in the promotion though, I don't see him doing very well. It'll be a nice story though, think the UFC could debut this guy on PPV?

he needs to be tested a litter tougher now imo.  @Greg is right about his last fight... and in this fight he showed he absolutely can evolve and learn.  Two more (like @tank says) and I say he's in.

I hope he gets his chance, he should get treated like everyone else. And he has a really good case for him with his record, although he didn't fought the toughest guys out of the UFC.

The problem I see though is when he gets brutally finished in his first fight in the UFC. That would just look bad and people who don't know the half of it would get upset.

exactly, there's a risk with picking up Newell. People could get really pissed when he loses, he's gotta be the next big thing for the UFC to pick him up.

Newell is inspiring, talented and a great story. But I just don't think he should ever get the call to the UFC. He hasn't beat anyone that's anywhere near that level and I'm sorry at that level having one arm could have dangerous repercussions, UFC guys would know how to get him in positions that these low level guys don't that he will be unable to defend himself without the arm.

I'm excited everytime he is able to win, but in my opinion, I don't think he'd have any chance to make it out of the 1st round against someone in the UFC.

I would definitely pick him up if I were the UFC!  Between his incredible story, and the fact that he's actually pretty damn good, he'd be a great addition to the Lightweight division!   Perhaps the best approach could be to put him on an upcoming season of TUF (it's not like the UFC won't be itching to do yet another season of Lightweights anyway) and see how good he really is.

If the UFC doesn't pick him up though, Bellator should consider it too.  Why not? I think this kid deserves a chance to shine and if he doesn't win, so what?  He's still a winner for just going out there and doing as well as he has done!

I agree with messiah for the most part...I think he'd be able to survive against the really low level UFC lightweights but I don't see him doing any good against anyone else. One arm is way too much of a hindrance in this sport.
