...but you always cheer for them anyway.

Mine is definitely Sakara. I know he'll never make that jump to greatness, but I just gotta' love the guy.

Every time he has a chance to reach contender status, he falls short.

It, along with Toney vs Couture, is as close as we've come to "Freak Show" fights in the modern UFC.

Clay Guida is another guy that I scream for till my voice cracks, but I just don't see him ever being able to get that belt.

My buddy (@Samson) and I joke about Guida challenging Bonner for the #1 spot on our human punching bag list.  Being tough as hell is the first requirement for making the list.

Spencer Fisher.  I think that he's an extremely entertaining fighter, but I don't see the UFC ever really giving him a title shot.  It seems like he gets so close to that threshold, and then loses or gets hurt before he ever gets the opportunity.  His loss to Ross Pearson is a prime example, because I feel like a victory in that fight would've put him in good position for a title shot.

I hope that Ross Pearson himself doesn't end up on a list like this, but I really enjoy watching him fight.  I picked him to win the entire TUF series he was in from the very first episode, and have been a fan ever since.  However, something tells me he just might end up one of those upper middle-level guys.  The lightweight division is just so stacked.  I'd almost rather see him fight at 145 lbs.

Jens Pulver's days on the top of the ladder are long gone, but I still admire the guy.  Matt Serra also.  I've had the honor of meeting both of them, and even got to train a little with Matt at his academy in Huntington, NY several years ago.  Both class acts.

Chris Lytle seems to have solidified himself as a gate keeper.  He does a good job, because you've got to be a tough competitor to make it through him.  I don't think I've ever seen a boring fight with him in it before.

@rowlison hopefully there is a flyweight class in the next couple of years for Benavidez to run crazy in.

Really??

Cung won't fight if there is a chance it will go to the ground. That's why he gave up the SF belt, just to come back and fight Scott Smith........................and lose.

Mike Swick, anyone that has a submission move named after them is always worth a watch.  I would like to see him healthy and back @ 170lbs or 185lbs.

i think bj penn has reached his maximum potiential as far as reaching the top is concerned.

his one of my favourite fighters, as much as i hate to admit it i dont think hell ever reach the top again. i.e. no.1 welterweight and no.1 lighweight. he'll always be 2nd - 3rd best. dont think his too far away from retirement. he doesnt have that fire anymore, he has too many on and off days.

What about guys in other promotions?  Can I name a guy like Hector Lombard, even though he's the "champ" because being champion in Bellator is like winning the minor league championship.  Don't get me wrong, I like Bellator and enjoy their tournament format, but the competition just isn't the same.  I don't think Lombard would stand much more than a punchers chance against someone like Anderson, but he's still entertaining as hell to watch fight.

Lytle is the king of FOTN bonuses. If he was more of an elite athlete, he'd be champ.
