agreed, I remember watching the series and going "wow lemme look up Nick Ozipczak and Frank Lester's records, they seem like awesome fighters" only to be disappointed.

Do you guys know if Ramos likes to go for takedowns alot, or is he more of a stand up guy?

I don't think many know. The guy was KOed by Erick Silva before he could even get a punch in.

Here is a dissection of the undercard (including this bout) from Bloody Elbow.

Enjoy.

I think he might be a Bisping-esqe fighter who uses his technical striking to out point his opponents to decisions. That's what I think, from looking at this fight and his record.

I feel that way about both of them in the same way, to be honest.

EDIT: OK so I tried to research. I have no clue what belt Ramous has in BJJ, but he does train at Nova Unaio so he must have at least good to pretty good BJJ.

actually yeah, now i see, He likes to stand though, He could get a sub if he gets this fight to the ground.

His last fight before he fought Silva... He attacked with multiple subs on the ground and than put the guy in an arm triangle..... BUT the guys record was 4-13 LOL and that is actually his only TRUE submission finish, the rest are submission by punches or exhaustion.

Like that means something bahaha.

The only thing I know about Ramos is that he and Erick Silva were big rivals and regarded as to two best WW's in Brazil before they both got signed and matched up against each other. And we saw who the best WW in Brazil was obviously lol.

Nova Uniao > wherever Matt Brown trains.

****, I have Erick Silva as one of the best Welterweights (on potential) right now along with Rory Mac. Almost no doubt in my mind those guy will be fighting for titles in the future.

Also @Anik Carlos Newton was a black belt in Japanese Jiu Jistu when he burst onto the MMA scene.

@WishIsHere Carlos Newton burst on the scene in the ******* dark ages. You could've had a black belt in Jeet Kune Do and be successful lol.

@theMMAmessiah 19-6 (at the time) considered the best WW? I think you're wrong, he lost to Roan Carneiro less than a year before fighting Erick Silva.

He did give Sakuraba a run for his money and basically subbed Hughes and subbed Miletich, but I know what you mean. I'm just saying he is probably the only guy to excel with JJJ.

@anik I'm never wrong when I post sir, you hear me, never.

Silva was the Jungle Fights WW champ, while Ramos was the WW WOCS champ. Regarded as the top 2 promotions in Brazil. And while he might not have actually been the 2nd best, I remember it being discussed by Rogan during pre-fight that they were huge rivals in Brazil and that people wondered between them who was the best.

I just watched Silva/Ramos the other day and ya Rogan said it was "the 2 best WW in Brazil" fighting but then this was Rogan so i'm sure he threw in a few savage and beast comments during the fight

Both are skilled veterans but I see Brown winning this by 3rd round TKO.
