Got this idea from the Ali vs Lee thread. So, who would win if they fought in a boxing match and both were in their primes. I'd have to go with ali because of his speed and reach.

Tyson

  Ali

Ali i believe would win because the fact is he would turn Tyson's aggression against him, just like the Foreman and Liston fight. he would use his speed to take it over.

Ali would float like a butterfly for a few rounds until Tyson got gassed and frustrated, then he'd sting like a bee, and down goes Tyson.

Tyson has superior power with hand speed in the same class but probably slighter slower than Ali's. However, Ali is the better tactical fighter and I would give the edge to Ali. The greatest difference I see is the difference in stamina. It will be close in the early rounds, but Ali will take over in the latter rounds once Tyson fatigues.

Tyson gets in close, it's a bad match-up for Ali, the rope-a-dope certainly wouldn't work.

How? He wouldn't stand there throwing long bombs, he'd be in close, short hooks and uppercuts, he hits just as hard as foreman but moves twice as fast. The Tyson that KO'd Berbick was a juggernaut, unstoppable. No way the RAD would work.

Tyson's head movement was too good for Ali to land it often enough.

Iron Mike has more power then any other professional boxer ever. Matched with his technique and speed I don't think Ali would be able to beat him. Ali used his stamina and the ability to take punishment and wear out his opponet. With Tyson you can't do that. He hits you and you drop regardless of who you are. If it weren't for his mental issues I doubt Tyson would have ever lost.

Tyson's competition wasn't as good as Ali's in my opinion. He KOed a lot of people because those people just weren't as good, Tyson's not the most powerful puncher ever. I think it's George Foreman, personally.

Ali would destroy Tyson though, Ali's bigger, faster, and Tyson would never be able to get in close. Ali would keep him at bay and knock him out with a jab.

I do agree with you though about one thing. I have always thought the best power puncher in boxing history was George Foreman.

Ali. He's faster, taller, and he has a longer reach. He would pick Tyson apart from the outside.
