It all depends on Condit. If Condit wants to fight before the GSP unification then, Ellenberger is probably out of the question. I think Josh Neer would be perfect for both of them. Neer's on a six-fight winning streak with six finishes, but everyone doesn't see him as a top 10 guy yet just because he's only fought twice in the UFC in that streak. Neer would be a solid win to push Kampmann to 3 in a row, and Neer would really start knocking on the doors of contendership with a win over Kampmann. Makes a lot of sense for both guys.

I think Condit will wait for GSP, Kos gets ko'ed by Hendricks soon so Silva is a very good call, I don't see Neer on the same level just yet. I also could live with a Ellenberger/Kampmann contender match to take on Condit/GSP...

I like the matchup with Neer i didnt think about that one. But if Condit is gonna wait on GSP which he is then Kampmann vs. Ellenberger should be the fight imo.

@jaffa I disagree. Silva's looked good, but look at the guys he's fought. They're 155ers except for Prater. Beating a 155er that's 19-7 at 170 is not grounds for getting a guy who's in the top 15 and arguably the top 10. I think they should be giving Silva someone a little lower on the totem pole to see how good he really is. He's looked great against mediocre competition, but that's not always a good gauge of how he will do against good fighters.

Just trying to come up with an interesting and even match up..............Ellenberger is an obvious match up and he would demolish Kampmann....plain and simple

Not arguing that the matchup wouldn't be interesting, just that I don't want Silva to have the same thing done to him as Rory. Rory was pushed way too fast and he lost to Condit. I don't wanna see the same thing happen to Silva. Just a personal preference. Neer/Silva/Ellenberger/ and Kos/Hendricks winners are all the obvious candidates it seems. Depending on when Kampmann wants to get back in the cage, if Condit is waiting, and what happens with Nick Diaz.

I think Neer is intriguing - Kampmann should punish him as much as Duane Bang did before he was caught - but overall i think Kampmann is much better than Neer. Ellenberger or Koscheck are probably the best bets right now.

Now here's the real question - who's excited to see Alves and Sanches fight! **** YES!

Speaking of Rory I was just thinking if he beats Mills then Kampmann vs MacDonald wouldn't be a bad fight if I do say so myself.....! The guy that beat Condit vs the guy that almost beat him....seems to make sense! And I don't think that would be rushing Rory into a fight he can't handle,he has all the tools to beat Kampmann and I would pick him to do so! Kampmann is very good but very beatable

Kampmann vs Ellenberger seems to make the most sense if Condit is going to wait for GSP.

They should rematch Kampmann with Sanchez but this time headlining an Fuel or FX show as a 5 round fight. Their first fight was very controversial though Diego is coming off a loss to Ellenberger he had a strong showing in rd 3. Give Kampmann a chance to get that win back. Either that or let him rematch Jake Shields, again in a 5 round fight this time. Both those were very controversial and really need to be done again.

What will and probably should happen.  Carlos Condit will wait for GSP and they will fight around October/November.  GSP will win.  Then, GSP will take Nick Diaz as his next opponent.  Nick will behave himself like a choir boy until then, and they will fight around April.  GSP will win that fight.

In the meantime, who should Martin Kampmann fight next?  Fun question.  He himself already stated he would love to rematch Carlos Condit again, just to wrench the Interim Title from him and position himself to fight for the Title.  Of course, no one really expects Carlos to roll that pair of loaded dice again.  Why would he?  Would you??

After Nick Diaz fights and loses to GSP, I would just love to see Nick fight, in order: Sanchez rematch, Condit rematch, Rory MacDonald, Jake Ellenberger.  In time, during his career, I expect Nick to fight all of these guys and every one should be a barn-burner.

Right now, I think the fight that makes the most sense would be for Kampmann to fight Ellenberger.  Both are coming off big wins and are hot.

The winner of the Koscheck/Hendricks fight will deserve a big fight.  I will advance the name of Rory MacDonald to do the honors in that occasion.

By the time these big fights roll around, they should all be going 5-rounds Main Events.  And that will favor the cardio guys.  So far, all of the fighters named above are cardio guys with the possible exception of Thiago Alves, who I have always believed is fighting in a weight class below where he should be.  Dude walks around 205.

No chance...Georges is the biggest draw so it don't matter who he fights....Diaz will have to win a fight then we'll try that whole thing again!

Kampmann v. Rory seems like the logical progression. Even though he won, I don't think Kampmann showed he deserves a title shot and Rory gets a step up and  a winnable fight.
