Condit "controlled" where in the "octagon" the fight was contested.  He led Diaz around like a puppy.  Forward is not always in control.

I went into the 5th round of that fight thinking whoever took that last round would win it, I thought Diaz did enough to win it but the judges saw differently. Congrats to Carlos and I really hope this isn't the last we see of Diaz because it would be a shame, I think he still has a lot of great fights in him.

Nick Diaz is 45-0 in his mind. He's never lost a fight. So childish.

Just watching the post fight press conference now, and here is a gem:

Condit was asked what Diaz was saying to him during the fight and here is an example:

following a spinning backfist by Condit:

Diaz: "So we're throwing spinning **** now?"

Condit: "Yep."

"I don't want to have to do this living. I just walk around. I want to be swept off my feet, you know? I want my children to have magical powers. I am prepared for amazing things to happen. I can handle it."

The one that made me laugh was when an audience brought up Condit's line of "this is gonna be a dog fight." and then Condit stuttered a bit before he repeated his previous answer saying that he wasnt gonna play Nick's game.

Two very ironic things about people complaining of Condit's victory.

1. "Condit didn't do anything to win, he just ran.  He won the fight without fighting." Well, as we've all seen, the data tells us Carlos outstruck Diaz.  So, what else did Nick do to deserve the win?  Walk forward the whole time?  Should stalking your opponent get you more points if you're getting hit more?  They seemingly want to award Nick the victory simply on the basis that he followed Carlos around.  Octagon 'control' is meaningless if you're getting hit more (I also don't like how everyone thinks that the control always belongs to the fighter who is pushing forward; the fight took place where Carlos wanted, not against the cage where Nick wanted).  And if you noticed, the few times Nick stopped moving forward, Carlos pushed.  He adjusted to Nick on the fly, something Nick failed to do.

2. "Those leg kicks were weak."  One of the most well-known aspects of Nick Diaz's game is that he throws pitter-patter punches most of the time.  He's a volume puncher.  Are you really criticizing another fighter for implementing so-called 'weak' strikes when Diaz is known for it?

Furthermore, people are jumping on Condit for "running" when Diaz was trying to corner him against the cage.  This is directly analogous to criticizing someone for trying to get up when taken down by a dominant wrestler.  When a fighter is really good at something, you avoid it, or you lose.  Diaz is known for battering opponents against the cage.  Condit would have been foolish to stay there, just like someone would be foolish to not try and stand up when Jon Jones is on top of them.  I don't hear anyone calling it cheap when a fighter stands up out of the guard of Werdum or Maia.

Finally, @brad, the name-calling is really unnecessary and does nothing to help your argument.

@hybrid Was that in this thread?  My post probably just hasn't been seen by the Diaz fanboys yet.  You have a thumbs up from me as well, and thanks for the compliment on the name.

Do you guys want to see a Condit/Diaz rematch before November?

@soccerkick Nope. I don't want to see a rematch in general unless Nick beats somebody else first. Wasn't a split, wasn't really that controversial beyond Diaz fans. So.....not really.

I would rather see Condit move on and get a defense under his belt.  It was a pretty close fight but it was a unanimous decision.  I don't think a rematch is necessary.

Hendricks would be interesting, or an Ellenberger rematch if he gets past Sanchez.
