When I heard D’Amato I thought RDA was taking it.

I like this version of Vicente, but in a division so full of great wrestlers, it's hard to see him being successful with this new approach.

At least, this will pay dividends for his health in the long run, I hope.

Just out of curiosity since you think RDA won, which rounds did you score for him?

Luque still gets hit way too often imo. If rda didn’t initiate so many grappling exchanges he may have won the fight

I bet Dawodu by decision. And I don’t think it was a robbery of any kind..
Round 1 Cub landed the hardest shots of the round early and Dawadu came on late in the round. IMO round was a coin flip.
Round 2 Dawodu fairly clearly
Round 3 was a coin flip with 90 seconds to go Cub getting the takedown and some ground shots plus the submission attempt swing the round fairly clearly for him.
So to call this one of the worst decisions of 2023 as the announcers suggested is ludicrous.

R1 Swanson. Dawodu landed more but Swanson landed the 3 biggest shots, and one that seemingly hurt Dawodu early.
R2. Dawodu. Landed Cleaner and better.
R3 Swanson. Got the better of the exchanges and ended the round strong with the takedown, gnp and sub attempt.
Dawodu looked more composed and never seemed tired, but fights are not scored on fatigue. I think it comes down to the first, and Swanson landed bigger IMO. Immediate > cumulative.

29-28 Cub.
It all came down to the first. I thought Cub landed more but it really was 50/50. Second was solidly for Hakeem, and the third was clearly for Cub. Still somehow felt like overall Hakeem won though.
edit: Wow a lot of people don't understand that landing more strikes is not how rounds are scored. I had Cub landing slightly more impactful strikes in the first. Let me reiterate, the first was a tossup. How Sal gave Cub the second is beyond me.

Noxx I had 1 and 5 for rda. If there was any other that could go his way maybe round 3 but I can’t remember how late into that round it was when he started landing. Despite all the takedowns luque only really got control time with them

11/13. Dawodu and Viana were my losses. Hit a full ticket on betting though with Swanson and Lucindo on it. $846 on a $1

@UFC_1
You can copy/paste the opinions of any random Joe on the internet that scored the fight for Cub, but that doesn't change the fact that he got this win gifted to him. This was a clear robbery and even Cub knows it. Just like I mentioned in a previous comment here. Cub was already applauding for Dawodo when the decision was announced by Martinez. Fitzgerald is usually not very outspoken when there is a controversial decision, but even he said that Dawodo should win here.

I just rewatched the fight and I still scored it for Dawodo. Cub had one big moment in the first minute of round 1, but Dawodo landed a lot more strikes. Dawodo also had good range management and rolled with most of the punches Cub threw at him. So I would always give him that round.

Dawodo did a lot more clinch work in the second round. He controlled Cub exactly 1 minute against the fence, while throwing knees. After the break, Dawodo continued with good counters, landed more strikes in combination with more clinch control against the fence. When they got out of the clinch there were still 8 seconds left. Cub started swinging and landed a few good shots those remaining seconds. Regardless, I would still score that round for Dawodo. Which means that he's up two rounds at this point and Cub needs a finish to win this fight.

The last round was the most competitive round. They both landed their strikes at this point and Dawodo had short control time against the cage, until he kneed Cub's cup. After that, Cub landed a lot more strikes and even took Dawodo down. He controlled Dawodo for a bit over 90 seconds and tried to get a rear naked choke at the end of the round. So that round was a clear Cub round.

There is honestly no way you can justify a Swanson win here. Rewatch the fight and you'll see what I mean. With that said, you copy/pasted a post from MMAdecisions. Look at the percentages of people that scored this fight for Dawodo while you're there. The majority of people scored it for him as well. Anyways, I love Cub but he shouldn't have won here.
