Ourcashpicks: My House and Haystack

Predictions: 6 of 12 Winners, 1 Perfect, 340 Points   |   Tied for 2741st

So on our channel we have a segment called House and the Hay stack which signifies which bet you would put your house on which means the safest bet and which bet is as weak as a haystack signifies the pick you have least confident in.. so with that being said I’m going to bring that here and tell me why I’m wrong!!

So for my house.. I have Rinat Beating Kevin Lee…
I think his constant pressure and just evolved game of what todays UFC is will be too much for Kevin Lee who has been away from the game and is a striking expert that shouldn’t have an answer for Rinats wrestling and ground and pound..

My Haystack is going to be Bruno Hulk Ferreira to beat Ruziboev..
Bruno is still relatively young and inexperienced having only 10 fights to his name but with his powerful striking he has the capability to put anyone away in the middleweight division.. Ruziboev is big and experienced and can finish in his own right. He’s 6”4 and Is a grappler at heart. I expect a finish either way and don’t feel too confident on Bruno staying undefeated

Morales vs Griffin

Predictions: 5 of 12 Winners, 2 Perfect, 325 Points   |   Tied for 2953rd

If Morales  can finish Griffin, especially on the feet, it says a lot to how quickly he has developed and how ready for top 10 guys that he currently is.

Personally I think this is a great test for him and excellent for his career but will be too much too soon. Griffin has rounded out into peak form the past few years and has an excellent blend of veteran intelligence in the octagon and very good athleticism and well rounded skills

I quite like this fight for the reasons mentioned above and I quite like turtles. I see Griffin winning a UD here in a good little back and forth fight.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 6 of 12 Winners, 3 Perfect, 400 Points   |   Tied for 1495th

Strickland vs. Magomedov
Sean Strickland, DEC
Sean has a solid chin and good cardio. UD

Ismagulov vs. Dawson
Damir Ismagulov, TKO, R1
Dawson was rocked by Madsen in 1st round. I can't not to pick 1st round TKO here, evem knowing Damir has pillow hands

Saint-Denis vs. Bonfim
Ismael Bonfim, TKO, R1
That one will be brutal

Lee vs. Fakhretdinov
Rinat Fakhretdinov, DEC
and this one will be boring

Kutateladze vs. Brener
Guram Kutateladze, TKO, R3
I hope Guram won't pull out. He needs a finish

Petrović vs. Carolina
Luana Carolina, DEC
I have no idea who Petrovic is. Maybe someone wil write something, thanks

Romanov vs. Ivanov
Blagoy Ivanov, TKO, R3
Ivanov wil survive 1st round, Romanov will gas out

@Vandal
Petrovic is barely making her debut but she is undefeated and Carolina has been a very middling fighter in her time in the UFC. This essentially is a push for petrovic but too many unknowns around her for her to be a bigger favorite than she is. She has finished most of her fights and will be an entertaining fighter moving foward...
Blagoy might lose just cause Romanov needs this win after two losses and wants to keep himself in the UFC... Id stay away from this

Kevin Lee is a very well rounded fighter, he can strike wrestle and grapple on the mat. His biggest issue was always his cardio. To me he was often comically jacked in the upper body which would lead me to believe he was doing isolation bodybuilding type of workouts more than he should and not enough cardio and functional strength training.
If he can come in with a good conditioning I think he has enough defensive wrestling to give RInat issues and the superior striking. He would have to be ready to go through a gruelling 15 minute fight though. But that should be a requirement for anyone that wants to be a succesfull MMA fighter.

Ruziboev has 40 something fights yet every single fight I could find on youtube he looked like he was in his 5th fight in terms of the nervous energy, the mistakes etc. He seems like a gimmicky fighter that just disengages his brain and fights on instinct. Every single fight he ends up on the bottom on the mat with opponent in either side control or mounted. Then he relies on their mistake which they obliges him with every single time to get an easy sweep.

He will swing wildly on the feet and crash into the opponent with his tall frame to give them a perfect takedown opportunity or he will throw spinning attacks that likewise leaves him unbalanced. At the same time you can see him throw really clean jabs using his long frame and some decent footwork as well from time to time.
There's just no cohesive pattern to his way of fighting, he's all over the place. I figure if you can't figure out who you are and what you're trying to do in the cage after 40 fights then you're just forever going to be a completely unreliable fighter from a betting standpoint.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 5 Perfect, 500 Points   |   Tied for 318th

Saint-Denis vs. Bonfim
Ismael Bonfim, TKO, R1
Benoit is so tough and a fun fighter but Bonfim has the power to finish him, and most refs won't let Benoit take the kind of beating he is capable of enduring.

Brito vs. Wilson
Joanderson Brito, TKO, R1
Wilson looks like the next beneficiary/victim of the UFC's quantity over quality approach.

Romanov vs. Ivanov
Alexandr Romanov, DEC
Like everyone else, I might change my mind once we see weigh-ins.

@gliese58i
I heard a few odd things about him. His record is kinda suspect, the ufc is touting a different record than tap and sherdog are. And his last opponent went on to lose 4 more fights in the span of 3 months.
I'm really curious to see him but yeah some weird stuff, your analysis makes me more confident in picking Fereirra.

I will add that the line on Ruziboev is a bit wide because what do we know about Ferreira after round 1? He was starting to breathe a little heavy at the end of the fight vs Robocop before he found the knockout. Was that debut nerves or is it his tank physique and explosive movement burning through his gas early? He has never been in a long fight.

Ruziboev has more of a frame for going long but then he's finishing everyone in the last 8 in the first round and the one before that that went the distance he got smashed and I've definitely seen him fade in later rounds earlier in his career.

For me this fight is too volatile to prebet, something might turn up live.
