Yeah, let's wait and see. Probably you're right. I just hope Costa x Chimaev still happens. That's the fight I want to see the most.

Definitely no where near as confident since the news released today that Costa just got elbow surgery 3 weeks ago.

Pretty unlikely in my opinion. It‘s a fight that the UFC could promote quite big and they would want more than two weeks or less of build up time for promoting it. Also unranked Ikram fighting Khamzat who is one fight away from a title fight is a way too big jump. Maybe would be the very last option if there is literally no ranked middleweight or weltlerweight who‘s willing to fight at 185 to jump in.

Paulo Costa had Bursitis in his elbow, had a surgery to remove it 3 weeks ago.

Alan Jouban got the same surgery, came back too soon and completely ripped his elbow in half. Very hesitant now to say the least.

I can already see Chimaev throwing a heavy Thai kick to the Costa's Right Arm before looking to a shoot in the first 20 seconds of the fight.

Yeah, maybe Ikram could get the fight just like you said, being the last option.

Paulo is probably gonna fight, but his chances are way less now that he revealed this surgery. I thought there was a backup fighter for this one (Jared Cannonier), but I don't know if it's true (knowing these guys, it should at least).

Chimaev Vs. Aliskerov is the fight every REAL fight fan wants to see. They won't fight in 2 weeks because UFC will wanna promote that big draw optimally and get the best bang for their buck. No need to rush it

"REAL" fight fans know Aliskerov is a total can, just watch his regional fights especially against Hanekom

Khamzat would run through Aliskerov again, the fight everyone wanted to see was healthy Khamzat vs healthy Costa

Yes I saw that fight and was not impressed.
But that was around 5 years ago & prospects improve, mid tier gatekeepers don't

Also - accordingly Chimaev himself says Aliskerov was his toughest fight, disputing the notion of people thinking it was Burns. His words not mine

How can Aliskerov be a can if Chimaev disagrees with you

well me calling him a can is an exaggeration but what I'm trying to say is that Aliskerov came into this sport as a multiple time combat sambo world champion so even if it was 5 years ago, his grappling even at that point must have been - in theory - at a pretty high level. so for him to have his takedowns stuffed, fail to secure/advance any dominant positions and then gas out and even get outgrappled a little against a guy like Hanekom, to me that's very worrying. it's also worth noting that Phil Hawes of all people was looking pretty crisp on the feet until his chin gave out on him randomly and he got brutally finished.

for what it's worth, I think Aliskerov's ceiling is right around that top 10-15 area and a lot of his future wins/losses will depend on stylistic matchups

As far as i observed in the past, only main events (I even think only title fights, correct me if I‘m wrong) get a back up, so I don‘t think there is one for Khamzat vs Costa. Maybe they consider it now though as Costa revealed his injury. On the other hand why should he pull out because of the injury now that surgery already happened. I think we will definitely see the fight, unfortunately just not with Costa fighting at his full potential.

Got it, mate. Yeah, it sucks that we won't see a healthy Costa against Khamzat. I was really hyped about it.

I hear ya and I very much agree with what you just wrote, yes he should have performed better given his credentials.
I actually just rewatched the Hanekom fight to refresh my memory & imo I think the problem for Ikram is that he appeared massively undersized in comparison. Handekom (as a guess) looks to be around 220 lbs. give or take. And, we all know how tough it is to take a larger/taller strong opponent down

Still, I get it he should have been able to at the very least perform better.

FWIW I don't value Ikram's win over Hawes too highly because his glass jaw is literally too much of a deficiency at this point, it was only a matter of time
