The praise Islam is gonna receive will be completely justified. He’s on his way to being the goat at lightweight if he racks up 4-5 title defenses

The only guys that have somewhat of a chance against him are Beneil and Fiziev

not even really Fiziev imo. I think it's only Dariush who stands a chance. at lightweight at least, Volk coming up would be very interesting

The only reason I said Fiziev is because if he hits Islam with one big shot it could be over, the chances of that happening are so low though. I’m gonna take what I said back, the only man with a true chance is Beneil

Volk doesn’t have a shot though. He’s way too small and the power difference on the feet is gonna be substantial

Tsarukyan continues to improve, he also has the potential to beat Makhachev & claim redemption.
He'll be one of the few that actually want to initiate grappling with Islam.

You may think that Tsarukyan looks worse because of Gamrot losing to Dariush, but apart from the fact that it was 48-47 Arman, if that were a 3 rounder it could've arguably been a 30-27 in favor of him as well, or at the very least a 29-28 (one judge gave this score to Dariush vs Gamrot as well). He wouldn't have been as dominant, but he's still so young and improving at an immense rate, so I could definitely see him being champ one day

I think we're gonna get to see all these killers face off against one another at some point in the near future -  we have a lot to look forward to!

@DrChaotic  - Yes I agree. Tsarukyan was definitely more imposing in those earlier rounds

Debatable. He dominated Charles and seems to be the legit second coming of Khabib, but LW is such a shark tank that you can't just "be a dominant champion". Like I'm not hating on Khabib, because what he did was still mad impressive, but the only reason he was so dominant is because he took easier fights against strikers, fought once a year, and retired early. Islam's first title defense is probably gonna be an easy one, but we can't forget that he's going up against another champion (weight class below his sure, but still) and current PFP number 1. Add on top of this he's already said he wants to go up and get the welterweight strap (something Khabib would never dream of doing) and I honestly don't see Islam avoiding another loss on his record for so long. Might take a while for him to lose at LW (like Volk at FW, he's losing his next fight but it'll be at LW) but even then, you have so many up and coming killers in this division that it'll be difficult

If Dariush stop the TD he may outstrike him to a decision. Same could be said of Volkanovsky. Theres also prospect like Ismagulov or Azaitar that we need to see a litle more before saying if they can or not beat him.

Eh Azaitar's kinda a bum ngl. Ismagulov probably losing to Tsarukyan but he's still a legit threat. Fiziev and Dariush are killers, and I don't think Volk can stop the takedown but it'll be interesting

Nah. Agree I disagree. He's too ambitious. If he goes up Chimaev will eat him, Usman probably beats him, and Leon idk.

This is a good thing btw, I would hate for him to be content at just LW. Just saying he's probably gonna taste defeat a couple times within the next few years if he does this

I wonder who are picking Volk against Islam? Maybe stick to mma instead of hating or give just one reason how Volk can beat him?

I would love volk to win but I can’t see how he’d win islam is too big and too good, islam will retire lightweight goat, I had oliviera but the way he just subbed him with ease and dropped him, I thought olives was on his way to lightweight goat and islam handled him easily
