Idk Buckley seems to improve every time he goes out there. He went from being a dude that only loaded up with decent kicking to a dude that occasionally sets up his punches and can compete with good strikers. His grappling is also really underrated imo, and I can actually see him winning every single grappling exchange. I think Buckley also has a higher fight IQ, and Curtis is just a dude that can outbox anyone in the division. Buckley got a blockhead tho while Allen and Hawes both seem to not take punches well at times. Alessio just caught him with a knee and shin on his chin that would knockout literally anyone, Holland's power is really underrated, and Buckley took that fight in his debut on like 2 weeks notice

The Alessio fight was definitely an odd one tho that he definitely should've won. I would put it up there with Jordan Williams beating Robocop in UFC/DWCS oddities

Or maybe Curtis will hit Buckley like Arroyo did with a clean jumping knee to the chin or like Duraev iirc, getting blurry on the details after watching 7 of his fights, with a flush head kick.
Buckley has eaten some monstrous shots and had such little reactions at times that commentators almost miss it.

Buckley will get hit but it's not a foregone conclusion that he will get knocked out. He's also 7 years younger and faster and more explosive than Curtis and has more tools with kicks and some decent wrestling vs just boxing. Curtis has 100% TDD in the UFC which is a very misleading stat if you watch his PFL fights. It's a good stylistic matchup for Curtis in that Buckley will enter into his range and engage him on Curtis terms but that doesn't mean Curtis should be favored imo. It just means there is some uncertainty on the outcome.

True it’s gonna be a good one, I just think Curtis will be the better of the two. Also I think the odds are waaay off in this fight by having Curtis as a +140 dog, but maybe the odds makers know something that we don’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was on Curtis for all of his underdogs wins and made excellent money on him.

But Buckley is mopping the floor with him here

In regards to the fight itself I am loving what I see.

Vinicious has perfect chin up in the air leaning head back with arms down defence that I love to see. He is getting KTFO soon. Also have not seen any of his other fights I can remember but I am now going to study with interest because looking at that one fight I will predict he gasses out after 7 mins and then will slow down and get clipped.

I think there is a very very good chance Da Silva knocks this guy into next week. So this will be my first tape study of the week and maybe a big underdog play.

Thanks!

I think Jan is a good underdog, Magomed isn’t a wresler, like Holland last week I doubt if he either can or tries to wresle**** Jan, and in a strictly kickboxing fight, shouldn’t Jan have a solid chance to win, he rarely loses kickboxing fights

Also, Jan does well agaist Southpaws

Magomed isn't a wrestler?

Man you should stick to some other sport like lawn bowls or croquet. You obviously don't understand anything about MMA.

Retire please.

In 10 ufc fights he only had 1 fight he got more then 1 takedown, I’ll be suprise if he just wresle****s Jan, that not his style

I've been having the same discussion with a homie, when did y'all see Ankalaev wrestle? He got wrestled down by Krylov in the 1st round, landed a reactive takedown in the 2nd and dragged down a gassed Krylov down (barely) without doing anything. Other than that he never really shoots.

Dude just doesn't wrestle, his TD accuracy is like 30% and he shoots once every blue moon. Ankalev is only going to shoot on Jan if he gets caught and needs to recover.

I'd suggest you go back and watch his fights. His wrestling is excellent.

I'm not saying he will spam takedowns on Jan, but if he needs to he can definitely get takedowns

ankalaev has great wrestling and great grappling as well

the main reason why you can't recall him intensively and continuously wrestling in his ufc career off the top of your head is because these well rounded caucasus fighters have a ********ly huge ego, they want to beat their opponents AT their games

so if they're fighting a westerner who's known to be a striker, they'll make it a point to outstrike them, if they're fighting a westerner who's known to be a high level grappler, they'll make it a point to outgrapple them

some very obvious example of this are:

ankalaev deciding to grapple with insanely high level bjj player paul craig

ankalaev making it a point to knock out cutelaba

khabib making it a point to outstrike conor mcgregor

khabib staying on the feet with poirier

arman tsarukyan making it a point to outgrapple joel alvarez who's also a very high level bjj player

islam making it a point to submit charles

and the list goes on and on and on, make no mistake ankalaev WILL outwrestle jan pretty easily especially if you look what 50 year old glover did to jan in his last fight and how easily he controlled him and submitted him

Yeah after seeing Jan-Glover, I'm sure he can, I just don't think he shoots a single takedown unless its a freebie or he's hurt

in all fairness though, i think the odds are a bit skewed and ankalaev is coming in with a lot of hype creating imbalance in the odds

if you look a bit further into the matchup, cutelaba unironically had a fairly bit of success landing that right multiple times on ankalaev in their 2nd fight. if cutelaba can touch you up with his right hand then jan is going to commit war crimes on you with his right hand.

having said that, jan by tko isn't a crazy outcome, not very highly probable but still very much so on the table - ankalaev by submission or gnp tko in my opinion is the most probable outcome

ankalaev doesn't really finish dudes on the ground but when you're in a 5 round fight while only having trained for a 3 round fight, you'll most likely look to put the other guy out in the first 3 to avoid your cardio failing you miserably in the championship rounds
