I'm thinking Poirer's striking defense is better than Gaethje or Oliviera (who beat Chandler) and that even if Chandler does land on Poirer he should be able to eat many of Chandler's shots. Chandler's UFC wins have come over a past his expiration date Tony Ferguson and Hooker, who's good but not really Top 15 IMO. You seem pretty confident in Chandler so I'm interested to know why that is?

Poirier vs. Chandler
Dustin Poirier, TKO, R3
Poirier has better movement and he's pretty adept at the leg kicking game. If this fight remains standing I think Poirier edges it out through a battle of attrition and just a better gameplan. I think he can chip away at Chandler's legs easier with his leg kick offense, and that should prevent Chandler from exploding in and out imo. Chandler also has a much more limited skill set and variety of attacks on the feet, so over time Dustin can find openings with his combinations. I think the entire problem comes from Dustin and his strange willingness to constantly give up his back to the cage wall (he steps behid those two black lines on the octagon floor) most of the time when his opponent isn't doing **** to make him give up so much ground. I think he did a little better in the Hooker, McGregor and Oliveira fights, but when he fought guys like Khabib, Alvarez and even Pettis, I think he gave up control of the octagon waaaay too easy. So with that said, if Chandler can get takedowns and control Dustin, I think that's where he will find his path to victory, either sub or GnP. I just predict that Dustin will be able to either stuff most of the takedowns or get up and outlast Chandler with better cardio and durability. But I would not be surprised one bit if Chandler starts blasting double legs and makes this fight look easier than it should due to the defensive holes that still exist in Dustin's grappling.

Close fight

Leaning towards Dustin by Decision or late 3rd, but if chandler can show up with better cardio than his last MSG card, I think he can take this decision. Round 1 will definitely be Mike's. 2 will be a toss up. 3 leans Dustin, but depends on Mike's cardio

Huge fan of both. Dustin is my guy though, I think after an insane first round Poirier lands a left hand that crumbles Iron Mike and ends it with some follow up ground and pound

It’s difficult to see Chandler winning in the stand up against Poirier, especially after how he Gaethje beat Chandler.
