I think the reason why people are arguing about this fight is that Islam is pretty much a full enigma. What do we actually know about him? We know for sure that he has one of the best win streaks ever in the lightweight division (1. Khabib,2.Tony,3.Charles,4.Islam) but he's never has had the type of competition to really make it clear that he's on the level that those three were at in their primes. His best win to date is Armen. That is a great win and continues to be one. Followed by a tie of Hooker, Moises, and Green, which he finished. Those people are decently good competition. Not contender, but definitely top 25. That's about it for things we know. Very small list. When people say he's more well rounded than Khabib, I automatically just think that means is a worse wrestler. He's not the pure MMA athlete Khabib is (whether its Chin, speed, strength, or cardio). And if I am wrong and he is all that, we just don't know to what scale he is those things. Cause he's never been tested. The one time he was resulted in a KO loss, and that was so far back I don't think its productive to think that has any bearing on who he is today. Now for the speculation: Can he hurt Charles on the feet like Chandler, Poirier, or Gaethje could? I'd be incredibly surprised if he could. Can he out wrestle/grapple Charles? Maybe? I would've loved to see Islam fight Kevin Lee like Charles did. Because Charles was making Kevin work from those grappling positions, but still was losing the fight because he was on his back taking some ground n pound. How does Islam do over 5 rounds with adversity? Because I believe he will be able to take Charles down and grapple with him, but it's going to be the best grappler he has ever fought in an actual fight (sure he's fought Khabib in the gym, but in the cage it's completely different, and Armen was very short notice) and we don't know how the gas tank is around the championship rounds. We have the moises fight, but he had so little challenge on the mat, I don't think that would've tested his gas tank even a little bit. My pick is based on two primary forms of reasoning; Whoever wins will be dictating the fight in the later rounds, and Charles doesn't seem to get particularly tired even through adversity (i.e. hellish grappling exchanges with Lee and a quite decent pace with Dustin and Tony). And the second thing is that I just know so much more about Chucky Olives. And the safest bet is to go where you have more accurate data than where you don't.
But I wouldn't be surprised if he wins, cause Islam is good, but I just want to know how good he is.

Islam mentioned in a tweet from a week or two ago that he planned to take it slow in the early rounds and figure Oliveira out. I wonder if he is serious about that, because Oliviera has never given anyone a warm up round with his heavy attack style (at least not in his recent fights). In order to get to the later rounds against Oliveira you need to be able to weather the initial storm. If Islam really believes he gets a round to figure things out it will be a quick night.
