Predictions: 2 of 2 Winners, 0 Perfect, 115 Points   |   Tied for 3574th

Dariush vs. Makhachev
Islam Makhachev, DEC
While I'll be strongly rooting for Beneil Dariush, I am objectively picking Islam Makhachev. Everything Beneil does, Islam seems to do better. Islam has beaten better competition, he strangles people, and is he so methodical with his mauling grappling heavy style. In my opinion, Dariush doesn't have the same level of top control at all. He gets very opportunistic and goes for submissions that may or may not be there. Beneil may have a better submission game, but I believe Islam can secure consistent takedowns and chip away at Beneil over time. I wouldn't be shocked to see Islam get a late choke either. While this is a good grappling matchup on paper, Islam should make it past this firm test with flying colors.

Bahamondes vs. Rong
Ignacio Bahamondes, DEC
When I saw this fight, I saw a tremendous matchup between two hungry prospects who have serious striking ability. Anyone can train kickboxing and eventually have a DECENT fundamental understanding after a certain period of time. And only certain people have that fast muscle twitch fiber. And these two do. Ignacio and Rong is an explosive shootout and I'm leaning Ignacio. I believe he does things with more style and has a wider range of tools than Rong. I'd expect a high level kickboxing match with some messy scorecards in the end.

Tsarukyan vs. Alvarez
Arman Tsarukyan, SUB, R2
Unless if Arman slips up, I don't see any way Joel Alvarez wins this fight. Joel has a solid guillotine and very crisp volume striking, but he won't have the power needed to keep Arman off of him. And Arman shouldn't get caught in an opportunistic guillotine, as he seems too good for that low-level ****. Arman should be able to win this wherever it goes.

Parsons vs. Gillmore
Jonny Parsons, DEC
Michael Gillmore was put on 'TUF', he lost in the season and was therefore eliminated, then he lost to Andre Petroski in a terrible showing in his supposed 'last chance' and now he's here? This kind of **** takes away the value of TUF and the little integrity the UFC has. Anyways, Parsons should win this as he's just a better fighter in all areas. If Gillmore had something going for him in any way, maybe I would understand why he's getting another shot. But he's below average and filler.

I'm not quick to call a guy a future champ but Alvarez is up there for me. He's just so good; it's silly how more people don't know him. I think he catches Arman in a scramble but it's two guys with a high ceiling fighting right now. I think Alvarez is better

We should note that Arman loses some scrambles until he turns it around and gains control. I could see him taking Joel down but the margin for error is very thin and if he's initially losing a scramble against Alvarez, the fight is over right there

Alvarez by submission 😬

He also got bested by Giagos in a grappling exchange.

I'm not claiming Joel walks through Arman, I'm just saying, it's not that black & white.

Predictions: 7 of 11 Winners, 2 Perfect, 415 Points   |   Tied for 1749th

Dariush vs. Makhachev
Islam Makhachev, DEC
I've pondered this for a while. I'm settling on it being competitive across five rounds but Makhachev being a touch too good everywhere, really. Dariush is a winging striker who uses plenty of looping shots to set up takedown entries. Regardless of his gameplan, Islam should be a lot tighter for as long as it stays standing to score the better shots, and while they're both capable of taking each other down, Islam has a major advantage in terms of timing and control. I think he's got this.

McKinney vs. Ziam
Fares Ziam, DEC
Terrance is good, though if he's unable to take Ziam out -- on the feet with a big shot or on the ground with a submission -- I see a highlight performance for Fares, courtesy of his jabs & low kicks.
