Mikey Tapology Boxing Corner!

Alright folks, 

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site. 

So here's a place to talk boxing. 

Probably my favourite Froch moment (The Groves KO and Kessler 2 up there also) is this fight vs Lucian Bute.  Froch was coming back from the excellent Super Six series after losing the final to Andre Ward. At that time people didn't class Ward as a Hall of Fame, P4P talent that he turned out to be, Froch wss actually getting stick for losing to him. More so about the actual performance, it wss a ****** fight.
Anyway,,, Lucian Bute was the only World Champion who never entered the Super Six, he was an undefeated knockout artist based in Canada (the same promotion who now has Beterbiev, so they know a thing about eastern European hammers! ) Bute had built up a reputation as a dangerous power puncher and was rated as the 1 or 2 (Ward the other guy) at the division. Bute was expected to whoop on Froch.

Me, being a diehard Froch fan, lumped a fair chunk of my wages onto a Carl Froch win. A Knockout win, I'm going all in!!! I don't think I've went as mental watching a fight as I did watching this 1!!!

Amazing!!! And to think, daft arse Edward Hearn almost cost Froch the win and got him DQd for jumping into the ring technically before the ref called the fight!!!

Ashton Sylve is fighting Braulio Rodriguez on the undercard as well.  Pumped for that one

Jake still has a "huge announcement" left for the card.  I doubt it but the rumors I was seeing on twitter is it might be Benavidez on the co-main

Could be but I doubt it. I think they are genuine. real boxing fans don't wanna see or hear about YouTuber's playing touchbutt in the ring for their 14 year old fanboys. 

I haven't met a person over 30 years old that has cared about one of these yet. its for the kids. 

Wouldn't mention it if they weren't professional fights on professional cards so here we are.  

I mean all of my posts on the subject in this thread before today have a combined 2 downvotes and like 20-30 upvotes and then I make that post which is shortly followed by someone I have muted who like to **** talk my posts and it gets a ton of downvotes.  Seems like alts to me

I completely get not caring about YouTube boxing but I'd argue that it has produced some fun events (social gloves 1, creator clash, the misfits card). I see YouTube boxing as no different than watching an amateur mma and or boxing card on fight pass.

if you need to know I'm one of the people that downvoted that comment because influencers boxing is pretty much sports entertainment to me.

Froch was really fun but limited boxer, and finding out in Froch's book how compromised his shoulder was made a lot of sense in hindsight. He couldn't lift his left arm beyond a certain point without being in terrible pain. 

@Collins & Cheese. I don't hate on anyone making money. Just not my cup of tea. 

Since Canelo just fought and people (incorrectly IMO) like to call him the successor to Chavez as the Mexican GOAT! I thought I'd post this vid from the always great Rich the Fight Historian about Rubén Olivares.

Also about the video I've just posted. That thumbnail, for a while I thought that was a picture of a young Pacquiao! 

While watching the Ruben Olivares vid I was reminded that Olivares took on another Hall of Fame legend Alexis Arguello. Truly 1 of the greats, 1 of the smoothest punchers you'll ever see with power to go with the technique!!
Any excuse to watch Arguello " El Flaco Explosivo" The Explosive Thin man!!!!  GOAT nickname!!! Ha
