I'm actually not all that thrilled about this matchup. I don't see Guida bringing out Gomi's most entertaining aspects. I think we're gonna see a lot of smothering clinchwork against the cage and some gnp from Guida from the top position. Gomi could catch him of course but I'm calling Guida by decision. We need TG vs. Young Assassin or Jeremy Stephens.

that's the weird thing about this one. it could be an all out sick war (it's guida after all) or it could be a letdown. betting man in me says gomi can't defend the takedown and it's gonna cost him.

Guida wins my KO, and i agree about fight of the night potential. Every fighter Greg Jackson gets a hold of turns to gold. Guida has been running on heart and raw potential for a while, i think we are going to see him start to take some real shape and improve technically if he stays with jackson.

What makes you think Gomi is done? Florian beat him but Florian destroyed Guida as well. The only big Question mark for Gomi was his fight against Golyaev. I think Gomi has found new motivation and stylistically matches up well against Guida.

Gomi's days as the top lightweight in the world are probably over, but I think he can stay in the top 10 for a while. I think he handles Guida convincingly. Florian confused Gomi with tight boxing and footwork. Guida doesn't have that kind of style.

This is such an exciting match up and one that i can barely make a choice over. I think gomi got off to a bad start in the florian via octagon jitters or whatever but he definitely returned to form when he fought tyson and knock he senseless. I think gomi has a really good chance of being the first guy to knock guida out but guida is such a resiliant fighter who will put non stop pressure on gomi and he has an excellent chin. I think if gomi wants to win this fight he has to do it early cuz clay guidas never ending gas tank and pressure may prove to be too much for him if the fight goes the distance.

I don't expect Gomi to be able to knock Guida out, but I have (possibly misguided) faith in Gomi's past combat wrestling achievements, and think he might be able to keep this one standing enough for him to rough Guida up. Guida isn't really a threat to submit Gomi, just control him. I think Gomi can handle that aspect and control the fight throughout.
