Menifield sub was surprising, but Luque? Luque has a lot of submission wins.

No Shame in the way that Woodley lost

Predictions: 6 of 10 Winners, 3 Perfect, 390 Points   |   Tied for 2056th

Woodley dropped everything from the start: he landed good shots from the distance, tried the wrestling on the fence and hurt Luque with the overhands. But Luque hurt him with heavy punches and took him with the D'Arce Choke.
It was kill or be killed for Woodley, much better than what he proposed in his last fights.

Yeah Woodley's drop off has been one of the weirdest and most sudden. From championship elite to "does this guy even look good in sparring?"

Fire your talking nonsense the game has evolved but woodley definitely didn’t look done there

Erison that’s how it goes sometimes. Renan barao is definitely the worst example. Almeida just gone is another one. It’s going to happen to Ferguson as well. Part of its matchmaking other parts is that big names get to avoid people like luque and Edwards while they were stuck just outside the top 10.

The problem is when a top guy lose a fight the ufc uses them to build up someone else instead of giving them a better stylistic matchup

@bradparton - T WOODLEY will probably be offered another fight to a young lion... to build their name. If he refuses at all... he will be cut. He can go to PFL or ONE championship or BELLATOR

I don't agree that Woodley has changed. He's the same fighter he always was: A solid wrestler with heavy low-volume counters who excels when he's bullying but a shrinking violet as soon as his opponent hurts him or puts him on the back foot. It's not enough for the new breeds in 2021.

If he continues to fight he might  pull a KO/TKO out of his ass occasionally but for the larger part his time is over.

I'm also suspicious  when fighters lose so much muscle mass basically overnight like ******* pears. Reminds me of Rashad Evans.

If I was Woodley, going to Bellator or ONE or something and dominating guys as the big name main event might not be the worst way to close a career. They'd probably overpay you for clout anyway.

AGE does matter in lower weight classes that require you to be fast with agility or very knowledgeable on how to trap and submit fighters.
