Pettis is not one of my favorite fighters by any means, in fact he's probably in my top 5 least liked fighters.  But when you think about it there aren't too many ways to beat him.  He's got good standup and BJJ.  Guida was in danger the whole fight when he was on top because Pettis was constantly threating with subs.  But I think Lauzon can exploit some holes in his game and get the sub early.

@Fresno Lauzon should never be counted out, but I'm not 100% sure what holes he can take advantage of. I would say Pettis' and Lauzon's wrestling cancel each other out. Pettis is the more technical, diverse, and more dangerous striker. On the ground, Lauzon has an edge, but I wouldn't be surprised if the edge was extremely slim. Either way, I doubt this fight goes to decision. In 43 fights, the 2 have been to decisions 6 times. Somebody's probably getting finished. I would say it's a little bit more likely that Lauzon does.

Taking another upset.  There is no reason why Pettis should lose this fight.  But I'm taking Lauzon, his ground game is sublime and Pettis is in trouble if it goes there.  Not to say that Pettis isn't good on the ground, but I can see Lauzon grabbing a takedown and getting the choke.

Lauzon could beat almost anyone on any given night, Pettis included.  But, I think if they fought 10 times, Pettis would win more times than Lauzon would.

striker vs grappler match up - but I'm favoring the striker in this one, plus Pettis' takedown Defense is decent.

Everytime Lauzon is an underdog he seems to win. He's one of my favorite fighters but I don't think he's athletic enough to be a champion. I think he may try to stand with Pettis and Anthony will not be ****y after being humbled by Guida. Pettis is going to bring a more diverse attack as he showed in the Stephens fight. Pettis's speed and good jim-jitsu should be able to handle Lauzon's killer first-round murder mode. Close fight, really hard to pick, but I got Pettis by decision with leg kicks and Td and BJJ neutralizing.

@Card, I wouldnt call this a striker vs grappler matchup due to the fact that Pettis is both

Changed my pick from a Pettis decision to a first round submission for Lauzon after watching the countdown.  I'm glad to hear that Lauzon's been doing some strength training and think it could really make a difference in this fight.  When you look at his UFC fights you really can see that he's gotten bigger and stronger.

Didn't feel right picking Pettis over my favourite lightweight for the sake of some tapology points anyway.

If Pettis can handle the first 3,5 minutes he got this, and I think he can. He has a good chin and is good enough on the ground to hang there with Lauzon or survive a crazy sub attack from him. After Lauzon runs out of gas it should be easy cause Pettis is faster, the much better striker and in case he gets taken down his guard is one of the most dangerous in the lw division.

Ko in the 2nd or 3rd for Showtime here...

@Blackhole if you know anything about lauzon is that his cardio is **** and most of his wins come  inside the first... Basically if this fight gets outside of the 1st Lauzon is losing
