Dana just posted this on his twitter! not sure why rashad got skipped but I think dana said he had pins in his hand

"“All of a sudden, he was shooting for a takedown, and I’m like, ‘Oh, you’re a wrestler now? Remember, I’m the black belt in jiu-jitsu. And you’re shooting on me now? This is a wrap." - Nate Diaz"

I don't get why people are upset with this...Rashad is injured there is no reason to put the belt on the shelf while he heals...The champ is ready to fight give him a fight

I love this match-up. Personally, I think Evans and Machida are the only light heavyweights who have a prayer against Jones. I also don't think it's a terrible situation for Evans; as long as the winner of Machida/Jones isn't injured, he should get a shot in the first half of 2012, which will give him plenty of time to rehab his injured hand and be 100%.

The smart money has to be on Jones in this fight, but Machida is a live underdog in my book.
Also, someone mentioned that Machida has lost 2 of his last 3, but personally, I don't consider the Rampage fight a loss. I thought that decision should have gone to Machida 29-28 across the board. While Shogun seems to have Machida's number, I think Machida matches up better with Jones than Shogun does.

I'm not mad, but when Rashad says that JONES will try to avoid fighting him.  Now all of a sudden Rashad is injured again and has to wait for a title shot.  It's frustrating.

This isn't all of a sudden. Evans hasn't been keeping this hand injury a secret, and it's not a serious injury. When he walked into the cage after Jone beast Rampage last month, he clearly had his hand wrapped up.

Usually there is a period of anywhere from 4 to 6 months between title defenses for UFC champs, often more when injuries come into play. Evans obviously thought Jones was going to take some time off before the UFC scheduled their title fight for 2012, but they needed a headliner for the weak-looking Dec. 10 show.

Jones will take Machida down quick.  If Tito can catch him in a triangle, what will Bones be able to do?  (I am a huge Machida fan, just being honest).

@skelliher, a lot of people on here are saying Machida is the only guy who can beat Jones.  You must not have seen the discussion after UFC 135

Machida wasn't using his normal style vs Shogun in the second fight.  He was pushing the action because he believed that was the reason for the controversy in the first fight vs Shogun.  I believe that is why he got caught.  I think he did something similar in the Rampage fight.  Machida has 5 rounds vs Bones, hopefully he will be patient and use his counterstrikes.  I have always maintained the position that a counterstriker will be the guy to beat Bones.  Machida, when he is on his game, is the best counterstriker there is.

Good luck counter-striking against someone who has a 10.5 inch reach advantage.

@crum, true.  I'm picturing a situation where Bones gets in close to do something flashy, like use elbows.  Jones would be wise to keep the distance, use leg kicks, stick his hand in his face, and keep Machida from getting off.

Not really Machida hype, but everyone was saying "Give Machida a shot vs Jones, he's the only chance", I see that all the time, not really on here, but just in general.

Agreed that Machida won't have a better than even chance against Jones, but based on his style, I do think he can present a different set of challenges than Jones has faced to date. That said, I'm not saying Jones won't figure those challenges out, it's just that I could see it taking longer for him to do so.

I still have Jones winning, probably by stoppage, but I could easily see Machida frustrating him and making it all 5 rounds.

I already got Jones as my fighter of the year..i don't see any other fighter with 3 significant wins that rival Jones's and he has a very good shot at a 4th now

Im sorry, this is all abit ridiculous now. Rashad will get his fight guys, relax. Even as a huge Machida fan, I think Machidas chances of winning are slim.. but its against Jones though, honestly, whose chances arent slim. :\. Also, this so called 'Machida Hype' has been dead for months. Its the opposite now, hes gone from over-hyped to overlooked. @crum, you make an excellent point about his 10.5'' advantage but If Jones throws a punch and misses narrowly, he will be in Machidas range; although I agree its gonna be hard for Machida to implement an effective gameplan. To everyone against this fight, who were you expecting to fight Jones after Evans? Machida would have been one of those fighters, let him get it out the way then. I will be pulling for Machida as I don't like Jones but its either gonna be a narrow victory for Machida or a complete and utter devastation of Machidas face that leaves him looking like he was on the wrong end of freight train.

Agreed @Russello: Sometimes intense fan support for a specific fighter receives such backlash that he then becomes overlooked.

I think Steven Seagal is behind this matchup. He wants to make Jones pay for not letting him work with him.
