Confirmed via several sources that Cody Garbrandt will coach against TJ Dillashaw. TUF 25 is also rumored to be doing an "all-stars" season this year, with all being former contestants. It is also speculated it will be contested at welter weight. The rumored lineup as follows:

  • Johnny Nunez (6-1, TUF 22)
  • Dominic Waters (9-5, TUF 16)
  • Jesse Taylor (30-15, TUF 7)
  • Joe Stevenson (33-16, TUF 2)
  • Gilbert Smith (12-6, TUF 17)
  • Juian Lane (11-6-1, TUF 16)
  • Eddie Gordon (8-4, TUF 19)
  • Dhiego Lima (10-4, TUF 19)
  • Kajan Johnson (21-12-1, TUF Nations)
  • James Krause (23-7, TUF 15)
  • Zak Cummings (20-5, TUF 17)
  • Medhi Baghdad (11-5, TUF 22)
  • Gerald Harris (23-5, TUF 7)
  • Justin Edwards (8-5, TUF 13)
  • Seth Baczynski (19-14, TUF 11)
  • Mike Ricci (11-5, TUF 16)
  • Jamie Yager (7-4, TUF 11)
  • Hector Urbina (17-10-1, TUF 19)
  • Eddy Ellis (21-16, TUF 16)
  • Junie Browning (4-6, TUF 8)
  • Ramsey Nijem (9-6, TUF 13)
  • Hayder Hassan (6-3, TUF 21)
  • Tom Gallichio (19-9, TUF 22)

Obviously take this all with a grain of salt. Since there are 23 names listed, it seems as if the 32 entry format will take place as well potentially, leaving 9 more slots open. Who would you like to see back?

Kajan Johnson & James Krause were cut? Kajan was on a 2 fight winning streak...

Huh? Why would Zak Cummings, Kajan Johnson and James Krause be on the list? All already under UFC contract and coming off wins so I doubt they were cut without me noticing ...

So is Krause...

and Zak Cummings wouldn't be cut off winning three of his past four.

Krause, Cummings and Kajan are all still listed on the UFC roster wikipedia. Strange. There is virtually no reason for them to compete on TUF again, up a weight class for quite a few of them.

I don't get it.  What's the point of having this "all star edition" of TUF exactly?  It's not like TUF 4 where the winner gets a title shot.  So why ******* bother?

Its more like a "2nd chance" edition of TUF. Most of the guys who could be considered "all stars" are still on the roster.

Johnson, Cummings and Krause may have taken the gig as a way to gain more eyes from the casuals. Looking as half of these guys have been retired or on losing streaks, they may be looking at it as an easy walk through.

I thought last seasons version of TUF was one of the better ones they've done in quite a while. There was so much talent in that flyweight cast and having champions from other organizations fight each other was interesting.

But I can't see myself watching this new season at all. There is a couple decent guys in that cast but for the most part they are guys that have been cut from the UFC, and for good reason.

@Hornet, because they're completely out of ideas (and lack the imagination and creativity to get any good ones) and for some odd reason they simply can't let go of that show.

By the way, something I thought about, maybe Cummins, Krause and Johnson have all fought out their contracts and were given this as an option because the UFC don't have too many legit "all-stars".

Something along the lines of "this is what we're offering you for your contract renewal, but if you do TUF all-stars THIS is what you'll get".

That's the only possible reason I could see those 3 on the show.

They should turn the "Six Figure Contract" to a "Seven Figure Contract" and open it up to existing UFC fighters as well.

@Twister44 yeah but UFC doesn't really need Junie Brownings and Jamie Yagers. It doesn't do much good to spend six months promoting upcoming fighters if they turn out to be Colton Smith. Once in a while you get a TJ Dilllashaw but then you also get an Eddie Gordon. UFC's base contract is so much more than what most promotions pay to even their champions grabbing guys like that is as easy as Dana White walking up saying I'm interested.
