I think it differs between each individual fighter. For some guys, fighting in front of a hometown crowd is a great confidence booster and drives them to perform better.
For other guys it's a burden. There was one fighter in a recent article somewhere (I'll try to find it) who said he doesn't like fighting in his hometown due to the fact that it puts more pressure on him. Again, I guess some guys handle it better than others, but that's just my opinion.

Typically judges are biased with hometown fighters with the exception of a few fights *cough* *cough*Machida vs. Davis *cough*
