I am a HUGE fan of wrestling (all grappling sports really) but the article does make a valid point about point wrestling being boring for the modern world. I would like to see the IOC add Submission Wrestling; like a no-gi style grappling tournament. (ADCC)
It would draw new fans and some the BJJ athletes could come over as well.

There are lots of Olympic sports that are boring, and many that are much less interesting and have much less of a fanbase than wrestling. The decision to remove wrestling has nothing to do with the merit/entertainment value of wrestling, it's political. There are sports lobbying to get into the olympics, and sports lobbying to stay in, and wrestling has no benefactors when it comes to the rather small group of people making this decision.

IMO i think the big problem is unless people have done it to some extent they just don't get it really. But removing the very first Olympic sport ever is a travesty while rhythmic gymnastics is still in where people get medals for Twirling ******* ribbons. A key to maintaining wrestling is making people understand what is going on and how it works. Also it would really open alot of people up to wrestling if the World Combat Games were emphasizing it more.

EDEN there's a wrestling equivalent of Metamorsis called AGON that takes the same concept of pitting the best MMA wrestlers with the best International wrestlers. Their first show is going to be October 27 with Askren vs. Quentin Wright.

No problem i found out about it last week. It would be intresting to see Daniel Cormier vs. Steve Mocco at AGON. that or Logan Steiber vs. Jordan Oliver.

why is that even a question for the IOC. Wrestling was the very first sport done in the olympics.
