A lot of things have to line up correctly before this match could even exist: Alvarez beats Chandler convincingly, Alvarez gets out of Bellator contract and signs with the UFC, Edgar going back up to 155, etc.

But after watching Alvarez vs Chandler I again this morning, and seeing how quickly he got dropped in the 1st round but still kept his wits and came back to win the second round (IMO) is eerily similar to how Frankie Edgar fights. How many fights have Edgar been dropped in the first couple of minutes only to invoke his inner Wolverine and regenerate himself to 100%?

If this fight ever did come to fruition, who would get dropped first and would they then become "Rock 'em Sock 'em robots" to see who drops next? And who would win ultimately in the end?

My money would be on Edgar. Simply because I think he has faced a higher degree of opponents and has been tested by those same opponents. Alvarez is still an amazing fighter, but I would have to side with the former UFC Lightweight Champ on this one.

I know they have trained together before, but I don't think I've heard either say they wouldn't fight each other if things lined up. But since they never have been in the same organization, I suppose it never came up.

Frankie Edgar would beat a lot of ************s at welterweight. I say he has no problems with Eddie Alvarez.

Frankie didnt run through Oliveira so if he went all thew way to 170, almost every guy he faced would be a lot bigger than him. Don't like his chances at a higher weight. An Alverez fight would be awesome though, I could see frankie finishing him but it would be a close fight for sure

You speak as if Charles Oliveira is a bad fighter...the dude may not be the future Anderson Silva like everyone thought he was when he first debuted but he is still a very young talent that will blossom into an elite fighter given the right environment and time.

Every single fighter at welterweight would be bigger than Frankie Edgar...just like how every fighter at lightweight was bigger than Frankie Edgar and just like how almost every featherweight fighter is bigger than Frankie Edgar. That is nothing new for Frankie Edgar.

Frankie Edgar barely finishes anyone, how the **** would he finish Eddie Alvarez, a guy who's known for being hard to finish because of the amount of heart he has.

I bet Frankie would have no issue getting to welterweight since you know it starts at 157 pounds
