Ariel Helwani interviewed Cain Velasquez and JDS today, Velasquez said something that is unusual for him. In the interview he says he chose not to finish JDS and instead punish him for the first fight.

I cannot embed the video because it's from mmafighting.com but you can check it out there and the interview with JDS.

Poor Cain Velasquez. Poor JDS. They are so nice that they can't even tell us they don't like each other without sounding fake.

They are two 240-pound machines of pure muscle that beat people up for a living, I find it rather anticlimatic that both are so... Normal, I guess.

@flying_frontkick I tought it was a bit funny that JDS didn´t consider it was disrespectfull  to say that Cain hits like a girl, but get offended whe Cain said he didn´t finished him because he wanted to punish him.

I´m not a fan of trash talk but they definetly could´ve done a better job selling this fight.

JDS has probably been working on his striking moving backwards like crazy. I see JDS catching Cain early as Cain starts to pressure him to the cage.

Seems about right coming from a guy like Cain, he doesn't take losing lightly.

Similar to Fedor vs TK 2. it was clear with the way Fedor was destroying Kohsakja that he didn't like how he lost that first fight and wanted to avenge it. easily one of, if not "the" most brutal beating that he's laid down, as soon as the fight hit the mat he started donky kongin' TK's head.

@ninetwothree I don't think JDS is studying tape of Velasquez during his 6th pro fight, nearly 5 years ago. That's the only time hes been dropped outside of the JDS fight. I think more than anything, JDS should have been working on his cardio and distance.

In an exclusive interview with Tatame, Cigano recalled the battle, indirectly pointing out that his opponent used a point-fighting strategy employed by wrestlers, but that Cain did not prove he was the better fighter.

"He showed that he had an effective strategy to win, looking to play it safe while not taking many chances to show he was the better fighter, blocking my punches in a way that is typical of wrestlers. He applied pressure, grabbing hold of me and avoiding the fight, making the fight boring, making the audience boo a lot. An effective strategy to win, but he didn't prove he was the better fighter."

So, he won't admit Cain is the better fighter even if he beat him down repeatedly for almost 50 minutes.
No class, IMO.

that **** is getting riddiculous by Dos Santos, he can cry and moan  all he wants but he is not the champion anymore, the score is 2-1 fights,  2 knockdowns to 1, and 50 minutes vs 1 min  of asswhooping all in favor of Velasquez. in 2 fights against Cain he was punched over 500 times.

@blitz I agree with you, no class and a desperate cry of a beat up fighter

That's ridiculous.  JDS has lost serious credibility at this point by not just taking it like a man and moving on.

Cain is better and that's all there is to it.  JDS landed a lucky shot and Cain wrecked his life for almost an hour.

I'm a big JDS fan but he does need to just move on and focus on the future. Cain beat him twice in a row, who cares how he did it. One thing I will say is the first fight was not a fluke or luck. Junior is 1-2 vs Cain so he just needs to focus on getting better and winning a couple fights instead of going in circles talking about Cain.

It's hard to respect a guy that won't accept a loss. It happens. Learn from it, get better, then come back and win.

To me the big thing is Cain is just better everywhere in my opinion. JDS can win due to physical gifts like amazing chin and lot of power. However Cain is just better fighter and game planner. He proved to be the better fighter by beating JDS ass twice. JDS can beat Cain but is reliant on his physical gifts to gain victory while cain relies on his skill and work ethic. That at least how I see it.
