@amp you are correct. I forgot about Chael. That wasn't really a fight though. It'll be Jones' 2nd easiest title fight. Like anik said Gus is getting this fight because Jones is literally running out of people to beat up.

I want Gustafsson to win but I don't see anybody in the LHW division right now that can beat Jones.

where are all the people who wanted this fight?

I am just as interested as Jon is in proving that AG is just silver to Jones' gold. Pun intended.

I hope folks have learned by now that NO ONE is outwrestling JBJ though, just so that part of the convo doesn't get any traction. The only way for Jones to lose (assuming that his character stays consistent and he maintains a hungry will to win) is for him to get subbed, but he hasn't shown a lot of weakness in that area as he has never been taken down. Aside from the BelforTRT arm bar scare, he's looked safe Jitz wise.

Very happy this fight is in Toronto. Gonna be awesome to be there! honestly though .. It's underwhelming and that sucks. Gustafsson is a legit challenger, but he needed to be in there with some better competition before a title shot. I thought Gus/Machida made tons of sense to choose a challenger for Jones. Nothing against Shogun, but with the way Shogun has been doing lately, getting a title shot off a win over him is very underwhelming. I hope Gus puts in a hell of a fight, but I think the fact he has yet to be in there with legit top 5-10 competition is gonna bite him in the ass here. 

I couldn't define a more one sided fight this will be. All we're going to see is Gustafsson trying to survive all 5 rounds to a decision. 

Why do they keep bringing Jon Jones to Canada?

I don't think the odds are crazy. I think they are pretty much right.

JBJ has finished 8 of his last 9 fights, the lone bout to go the distance was Rashad, who Jones said was inside his head a bit, but no one else can do that.

Alexander Gustafsson is the #1 contender by proxy. I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve to be the #1 contender, but look at who Jones has ran through so far. Ryan Bader, Shogun, Rampage, Machida, Rashad, Belfort, and Sonnen are just the fighters he has beaten since he became a contender Vera, Bonnar, and Matyushenko are legit LHWs, and the disqualification loss to Hamill, well we all know that Jones was demolishing, manhandling, and basically crushing the life out of Hamill in prior to the DQ. In a nutshell, there's not much left for Jones to destroy in the LHW division. Except for Hendo, if he gets past Rashad. Glover, but he has to beat a few more contenders before he's really in consideration. Phil Davis and Lil Nog still have some work to put in. After his horrible performance in his win over Hendo, I just don't see a Machida rematch anytime soon. So basically, Gustafsson is the only viable contender to face Jones at this point.

With resume and skillset that Jones brings to the table, I just don't see what Gustafsson can bring to the table that can actually beat Jones. What has made Gustafsson so great so far is his ability to keep the distance, well against Jones that plan is moog. Gustafsson went to the mat with Phil Davis, and that ended badly for Gustafsson. I just don't see anywhere that Gustafsson can beat Jones. 8-1 seems about right IMO.

I see Gustafsson trying to work from range and time Jones for a KO shot, but it's not gonna happen.
