in 49 years of life i have never met a man name Ashley. never. that's about as feminine as it gets. Kelly and Shannon i have met men with those names.

john wayne's movies were simple. clint eastwoods were complicated. i read something that clint eastwood once said about john wayne. he offered him a role in one of his movies and J/W turned it down b/c he could not figure out why clint wanted to play the bad guy. he never talked to him again. eastwood films were more complicated and not the ra ra gung ho stuff JW was in. eastwood has more Oscars than wayne and Unforgiven. Outlaw Josey wales, the good, the bad and the ugly and high plains drifter are better than anything wayne did imho

johne wayne always played the same role/ character. the good guy who saves the day. clint eastwood characters were a combination of good and bad which makes the character more complicated and compelling.

Going to have to disagree with you there Franklin. There are a lot of badass westerns. Badass because the story is complicated and thrilling. I'm not going to pretend I know enough about classic westerns because I don't, but off the top of my head; Seraphim Falls, 3:10 to Yuma, Dead Man, and True Grit come to mind. These are all modern movies that I would call westerns, and they are badass stories all of them.
Also Clint Eastwood > John Wayne.
