I do agree that Schaub is the the younger more athletic fighter, with a lot more power in his hands. Big Nog has had one of the most prestigious careers in all of MMA history. His BJJ is second to none, and from all accounts, he is a great guy. This is just a bad fight for him IMO.

Schaub hasn't really fought many if any guys with heavy grappling and a sub arsenal like Nog has... And even though Schaub KO'd Cro Cop in the 3rd... He didn't really put on an awesome performance... Nog's only losses are to top ranked Heavyweights in the world and in UFC. All of Schaubs wins in the UFC were 2 nobodys and two old UFC/Pride veterans who lost their game a long time ago. Schaub's TDD will be tested here and It's a tough fight for him if it hits the ground. Team Black House now has brought in Bigfoot and wrestling guys into their camp. If Nog has the gameplan to take this to the mat and drag Schaub into deep waters forcing him to work from his back, I could see Nog getting a SUB or taking a DEC win... Schaub could land a bomb on him in any round though...

I'm close to flopping on this fight really. I think Schaub is the worst prospect in the UFC HW division...I just don't know if Nog can close the distance and get him down. I may change last minute.

Shaub is just trying to get a title shot by fighting big names that aren't that good anymore. But Nog will halt his rise up the ranking.

Schaub doesn't pick who he fights. After he KO's the punching bag he'll get a top level guy. Schaub is going to be a major player in the hw division very soon.

That doesn't mean anything though. I'm sure Schaub realizes by beating Nog he still isn't near a title shot. I think he just wants to test his skills. Ultimatley it's up to Joe Silva and Dana. I just don't think Schaub is trying to take any kind of easy road to the title like you were implying.

Schaub is a joke, and yes, he does want a title shot for beating Nog...he's said it in two interviews. Get KTFO by Big Country, beat 3 cans, and 2 guys way past their prime and he expects a title shot.

Schaub is wrong for thinking he should be the #1 contender yet. He is moving in that direction though. Also everyone knows if Nelson and Schaub fought again Schaub would dominate him.

I really don't like Schaub, he just rubs me the wrong way, and him stating he should be getting a title shot with a win over Nog made it even worse.

I honestly don't see Schaub ever being top 10, barely top 20 when the UFC and SF HW divisions merge. When he actually fights someone good, he's gonna lose. Hopefully the UFC is smart enough to not give him a title shot off this fight if he wins.

I've never met Schaub, but he's on 104.3 The Fan every so often here in CO and he seems like a good guy who is taking his career very seriously I won't be surprised at all to see him contending for the UFC HW title
