It's hard to believe, but the man sometimes called "World's Toughest Nerd" started his professional MMA career just 2 months shy of 16 years ago. Since then he's amassed an impressive 31-6 pro record (counting among his victims such names as Randy Couture, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, Aleksander Emelianenko, Jeff Monson and Sergei Kharitonov) despite competing at the same time in pro wrestling, submission grappling, training other MMA fighters (most notable being the Abe Ani girls - specially his best buddy Megumi Fujii, who he also manages - and the submission specialist Shayna Baszler) and engaging in many other activities, particularly connected with heavy metal music (Bolt Thrower!), vintage and not so vintage cars (if you're a fan, check out the one he owns) and eating sandwiches from the Viking Truck (google it - or just ask the man himself).
Even though the BJJ black belt (a feat impressive in itself because he has never trained BJJ as such) has not stepped in the cage since losing a hard fought decision to the MMA phenom Daniel Cormier in May 2012 and badly mangling his hand in the process, one thing is for sure, we have not seen the last of the Warmaster!
"If the enemy rejects the ground, I would take him down by tackle. Why didn’t he [Royler] do so? May I introduce him to a good coach? His tackle was... like a girl’s one... Mr. Royler, how are you feeling?" - Kazushi Sakuraba

Some of Barnett's striking from his rematch with Rizzo:
