Pretty big shocker to me as well! But I love this tbh, should be a great season. Plus the fight afterwards between these 2, WAR!!

Mike, my thoughts exactly n everything you said. After being disappointed with Pearson/Sot as coaches, this really got me up in spirits.

My thoughts are the exact same as everyone else. I watch TUF for the Drama... should be a pretty tame series as far as coaches go. The fight will be entertaining. Unfortunately, Roy wont be able to get it down, and I think Shane has the bombs to put Roy out.

I know this is silly, but bear with me. I just couldn't resist.

Again another disappointing pick by the UFC for coaches on TUF. Don't get me wrong, I love Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin both. I'm a very big fan of them both as fighters, but I would much rather see Stefan Bonnar and Forrest Griffin as coaches. In fact, why not make TUF more interesting would be to set up a card of TUF coaches, or some sort of team type thing.

Bear with me here, let me explain it like this. UFC TUF Season 16 - The Comeback II

Coaches for Green Team - Nick Diaz, Forrest Griffin, and Roy Nelson

Coaches for Blue Team - GSP, Stefan Bonnar, and Shane Carwin

It's far fetched, I know, but it would create a whole new format and drama on all sides of the fence on the show. Among the fighters and the coaches.

This sentence came as a surprise to me.

"Bulked-up and wrestling-oriented Carwin is a mechanical engineer by day, while portly jiujitsu ace "Big Country" Nelson is a full-time fighter."

I had assumed that most UFC fighters are full-time in training.

Well you gotta make money somehow, Carwin hasn't fought since June of last year. And I bet alot of the lesser know or newer fighters probably have to have some kind of a job.

Okay, now this is a combo that I'd love to see!  As tame as everyone says the coaches will be, I for one am fine with that.  To be honest, I think it's getting stale to watch the same ol' coaches don't like each other so they'll talk smack at each other the whole season deal.

I'd like to see a season again where both the coaches respected each other, like Couture and Liddell.   Obviously it's a competition and they both want to win, but it'd be nice to keep the hatred out of it for once.

they pass up on two funny , likable guys in forrest / bonnar  .  they dont do the obvious rematch of sonnen /bisping  they would be hilarious TUF coaches and their fight was close . this is weird to me  i think this fight will look a lot like Nelson / Dos Santos  and we will be praising nothing but Roys heart by the start of the 3rd round.  i guess we will see, also Roy as a coach is funny , showing his students that you can be fat and be a fighter ,who needs discipline .

I'm happy about this they can now throw Cerrone vs Pettis as the co-main event at UFC 150 and let Cerrone get a fight in Denver!

I like it as a fight, but from what I saw thus far, Carwin isn't a dude to put on a show like that. I could be wrong though. And Roy might make it fun anyways...

super happy for this, ******* love Roy Nelson and I enjoy Shane Carwin as well. Carwin could break Nelson's iron chin, but Nelson definitely can win this fight. Nelson's losses are all against elite elite HWs despite being very undersized.

This season will be fun to watch but **** I'm sick of seeing welterweights and lightweights every ******* year, can't they do something like bantamweights and light heavyweights?

Damn it, there we go agreeing again AnikM. We need to stop this. lol Roy is one of my favorite fighters and I really like Carwin as well. I still think he got robbed in the first round against Lesner (me and Chron96 were there live for that one).

I'm not sure if this does any good to the show's cred tbh, but the fight should be interesting.
I'm just afraid they will both be gassed out by the first and we'll have a 4 round snoozer with eventual sparks here and there.

lame ass selections for both this TUF and TUF Smashes.  only choice I like is Pearson.

Yeah I agree I missed a lot of this season and will probably skip these all together.
