Jimmy Quinlan's has a background in wrestling, he made the state finals in high school and earned All-New England honors at Bridgewater State. Quinlan has also done well in BJJ winning or placing at Worlds, Pan-Am games, and Abu Dhabi at Purple Belt, Brown Belt, and open in both Gi and No-Gi.

Quinlan would try out for Season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter and make it into the house winning his first fight over Mike Persons with a quick TKO finish in the first round. Quinlan was able to move to the next round when he faced off against Clint Hester and was able to sink in the Rear Naked Choke in the second round. In the quarter-finals Quinlan would end up submitting to strikes from Josh Samman in the first round.


He would get another shot when he was put on The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale and matched up against Dylan Andrews. However Quinlan would lose his UFC debut via TKO in the first round. It was then announced that he had been cut from the promotion.
