WEC 47 Wiki Update Wiki

After both Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber and Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres lost their titles in 2009, the WEC had the unenviable position of trying to build their replacements as top-drawing fighters, while kindling hope that both former champions had a chance at reclaiming their titles. At WEC 47, which featured Dominick Cruz’s title win over Brian Bowles, one of the former champions disappointed yet again, as Torres was beaten swiftly and soundly by top contender Joseph Benavidez in the co-main event of the evening, dashing any hopes of a title shot for the former champ.
