So who do you guys think should be fead to Aldo next? I would love to see edgar fight him, but i can see why he doesnt want to move down yet. Hioki could be an interesting fight but he said he isnt ready. I guess its gotta be the winner of that korian zombie fight.

I was actually gonna do this exact post today! It annoys me the UFC seems to have him fight then sits him for like 6 months! Right now the only options are Hioki who isn't ready or make him wait on the KZ/Poirier winner...If it was up to me I'd do the Hioki fight mainly because Aldo is my favorite fighter and I want to see him fight!!...He's just too damn good no one wants to fight him!

@Soccerkick The problem with Aldo in the last few fights is that he's had injuries (the back/neck injury 3 days before Grispi fight set him back many months) Also Grispi lost making them put Hominick (not even top 10 at the time) as a contender. Hominick was a brutal fight for Aldo (weight cutting/got sick/general injuries sustained during training and the fight).

Aldo did fight only 3 months after Florian, so hopefully that is a good omen for the future.

Yeah for sure he has had some injury issues recently...Biggest problem is people at 145 not wanting to fight him

I think one of the other problems is what's going on in the division. After Hioki won, he said he wanted a couple more fights before the title. After Poirier's last fight, he said he was only 23 and felt like he didn't want to rush the titleshot and should have 2 or 3, maybe more fights before he fought for the title. When you have the guys that are clearly at the top of the list as far as contenders go saying they don't want the fight with Aldo, there's a big problem. Honestly, I believe these guys don't want to fight Aldo. I can't think of any time when another division has had 2 of the top 5 contenders say they don't want to fight for the title.

I'd love to see Aldo fight Dominick Cruz. That'd be some great standup

Hioki turning down a title fight when he knows his skills, as good as they are, aren't up to par with he champ's isn't a bad move imo. Hell I might even call it one of the smartest moves I've seen in MMA as of recently. Why go into a fight as just a filler when you're on the cusp of honing all your skills to their best when it'll be smarter to take a more evenly matched fight to better assess where you are? And I see Jose on the bench atleast until after the Diamond/zombie fight.

I hate seeing Aldo sit, as he is my 2nd favorite fighter, but if Edgar's not gonna move down, I think Aldo's  gonna be forced to move up to 155. Chad Mendes is the only guy I've heard say he wants to fight Aldo, and, well.....that didn't out too well for him. Aldo can't get fights at 145 because everybody that has reached a contendership status won't fight him. Maybe the fighters at 155 will want to try to make a name for themselves as the guy to beat Aldo, and use that as a ploy to get a title shot.

There is nothing left for Cruz at 135 after he beats Faber again. Cruz has expressed a lot of interest in moving to 145 and fighting Aldo. I think that would be a fight that would be great to watch and it would be a good challenge for Aldo.

Aldo is my favorite fighter.. in my opinion i think aldo cleared out the 145 division already.. he should move to 155 and challenge a top contender or challenge for the title.. i think he has the skill set and KO power to make it at 155. after all aldo did train with gray maynard. so aldo has a little taste of what is at 155. but yeah it most likely will be zombie or poirier.

Aldo will not be beat by any Featherweight. He is too talented, I'd like to see him move up to 155.

Hioki is the only fight that makes sense right now. He is the consensus number 2 featherweight in the world and he needs to be tested. Aldo will destroy him though.

Either Hioki or KZ/Poirier winner needs to fight Aldo, I dont care if you dont think you are good enough or not ready you dont just turn down a shot at a UFC championship

@ live2 yes, i agree but you don't get a title shot every week so i understand that Hioki wants to fight one more time in the octagon to test himself. the fact that aldo is a god damn killer dosen't help either.

I thought they were gonna give it to the winner of Jung Vs Poirier... I suppose Frankie is staying at LW for his rematch?

Hioki is so god damn good, what a pleasure to watch.

I don't think it matters who, when, or where Aldo fights, his opponent is going to lose. I just wish he'd get another defense in soon. No point in sitting since he took essentially no damage in the Mendes fight. Aldo/Hioki in May? I would love to see that. 3 months later the winner of Poirier/Jung? Sounds like a good plan.
