Prediction: Maynard  |  Decision

Edgars undoubtedly improved since his last fight with Maynard. But if theres one weakness he still has its that he can be taken down. Even and unfocused unmotivated bj penn was able to do it frankie didn't fight the best bj. Whada you thinks gonna happen when a hungry motivated gray maynard takes him down? edgars tough as nails an won't go down easy but the bully will impose his will and squeeze out a decision victory and win the title.

Prediction: Edgar  |  Decision

Given this has been such a hard fight to call, I went back and re-watched Edgar-Maynard 1 from Fight Night 13. A few things stood out to me. First, of the two fighters, Edgar has improved far more dramatically than Gray in the 2 1/2 years since the first fight. He is now noticeably faster, has better head movement, better power, and covers more distance when darting in and out. Second, Gray did virtually no damage on the ground after any of his takedowns. They were purely "scoring" takedowns with no follow-up, and Edgar got up from just about every one of them. That suggests to me that even if Gray continues to have success with the takedowns, the fight will still go five rounds and have a lot of standup action in which Edgar can be effective. Finally, Edgar really seemed to me to be having an off night. He didn't look crisp, and they were fighting at high altitude, which one could argue affects both men equally, but physiologically that is not always the case. Some bodies respond better to it than others, and Edgar to me seemed to be struggling that evening. So all told, I think we'll have a different outcome this time around and the same champion at night's end.

Edgar hs improved his striking and his wrestling, Maynard being more the aggressor Edgar can defend take downs and apply a submisson

Im saying edgar takes this fight via unanimous. Sure Maynard beat him before so some might say maynard will have the advantage but they fought over two years ago and since that loss edgar has dominated his oppenents he has 3 victories over 2 former champions(Sherk/Penn2x)
