Let's not act like Paulo is a jitz world-beater. He wouldn't stay on the ground in his last fight against David Mitchell, standing up from guard to let Mitchell up, and he was out-grappled in a decision loss to Kampmann in his fight right before that right?

Paulo Thiago's last performance wasn't great at all... I was really disappointed because I thought he'd easily finish his last fight and I was expecting much more... It was really lack luster for me. He's just not the same as he used to be when he fought Kos and Swick.

He dominated a high level blackbelt on the feet and the ground. When you get your opponent solely on the defensive you don't always need a finish to be impressive. Thiago looked good last time out.

Adding to Minotauro's comment, look at Maia vs Grove. He made Grove afraid of his takedown and out boxed him. Then once on the ground he played a beautiful top game. He did not submit, but it's hard as hell to submit someone thats purely focusing on not getting submitted.

Yeah but David Mitchell is clearly a one dimensional fighter and is unproven. His stand up was horrific and I think you'd all agree on that. What I clearly remember in that fight is that thiago didn't really have him in any trouble standing or on the ground. I just thought that thiago should've been able to finish the newbie for sure, that's why I was disappointed.

Siyar seems like a one-dimensional stand up fighter. Paulo Thiago is EXTREMELY inconsistent on the other hand. I think this will be a great fight but I give the slight edge to Thiago. I will probably switch to decision.
