For those interested in the financial aspects of things, the ufc signed a new deal with Saudi Arabia. They already recieved a massive site fee (20 million for the June event), but they next time they come (Turki said late 2024 or early 2025), the ufc will be reviving a 40 million dollar site fee for the event! Saudi money is ******* wild

If all things go well during the first event, the ufc is going to look to expand the partnership for a long time deal

For those curious about the late start time for 304. Leon is on the mma hour & said 304 was supposed to be in SLC (which is now going to be 307), and when the ufc moved it, they couldn’t change the broadcast time because it was already set with espn

Haven’t seen anything. Judging by his post, it seems like he has a fight set but it wasn’t included in the press release. If I had to guess, I’d say he’s fighting Joel Alvarez (given Joel can’t fight in the U.S. & has fought in the middle east before), especially since Joel is trying to fight after his fights in March fell through. I kind of doubt the ufc will present a 12 fight card to the Saudis (at least, before cancellations), so I am expecting guram’s fight to get announced soon. It not being on the press release was a little concerning, but gurams post did also say “waiting for the call from @ufc Riadyh, Saudi Arabia”, so it’s possible the other side has yet to sign the contract

I suppose the alternative is that they are looking for some cannon fodder to get guram back in the win column. That wouldn’t surprise me if that’s why they haven’t announced it yet

@AyyLmaonnaise I wonder if the Saudi’s and UFC agree to an expansion if they pull out their investments in PFL. If they have a deal with the biggest org in the world what do they need with the PFL?

Yeah I can’t imagine pfl is too happy about that news lol. I feel like Saudi will try and maintain a relationship with both; they want to increase tourism and build it as a sports hub, so having two different mma promotions would be useful. If we’re looking deep into the future tho, I don’t see pfl lasting more than a decade (imo). The board of directors is a bunch of suits who don’t know mma, only business & the pfl’s “business strategy” is to throw money at people and overpay to get talent. I know they have backing from the oil barons, but it’s not very useful to have that money when they don’t know how to properly spend it; for example, the company is currently operating at a loss & is expected to keep losing money until 2025 (at least that’s what their projections say)

If there are rumors, that’s the first I’ve heard of it. I remember there was a rumor that saygid was going to be on the unified mma card that Dana went to, but that never ended up happening.
