Wait...Sadibou Sy is fighting at Light Heavyweight? How is that going to work? He looks like he onlys cuts a few pounds, if any, to make 170. Is he bulking for this tournament or something? I'm very intrigued but that's a lot of weight to put on that you're not used to moving around with. 

He’s a pretty big dude, I think walks around 205-10. I agree though, terrible idea for him to move up; especially when his whole style is predicated on having a size advantage to pick you apart and defend takedowns. Josh silviera is pretty unathletic and not amazing anywhere but sy might struggle fighting someone who has probably a good 20 pounds on him (silviera has gotta be like 220-30 out of camp)

Also Mike Breeden, Luis Saldana, and Fernie Garcia have all been cut from the ufc. No surprised there 

Pretty sure Breeden was cut right after jubli fight but roster tracker didn’t pick it up until now

Dude you just blew my mind. I would have never guessed Sy was cutting 30lbs to make 170. He just looks like has a naturally slender/lanky build. I was totally just guessing but I thought at most he walked around at like 185-190lbs. 

@foppa yeah hahaha he used to fight at 185 a while ago and looked huge even in that class. He had a somewhat close fight with abus back in 2018(or 19 I don’t remember) but lost because he couldn’t defend the takedowns well enough. I don’t think he lost any weight but just figured out how to safely make the weight cut. All the photos I see of him in the training room, he is one of the biggest dudes there. And this is a guy who regularly trains with Michel pereira and Strickland at XC

Sometimes it's the right move. As guys develop their skills and get better, you lose the need to be in that smaller weight class where you're probably trying to get a size advantage. You reach a certain point where all the cutting your doing is just depleting you and preventing you from really show casing all of your skills.

We've seen 2 good examples of it recently in the UFC with Chase Hooper and Michel Pereira, but Sy is literally skipping an entire weight class. Definitely going to be interesting to see how he does. 

Yeah Josh silviera might be a winnable fight for him but I think he will struggle badly against the better guys in the weight class
