Alright folks,

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Yeah mate I have definitely hit my head /been hit on the head many many times!!  I've also watched 1000s of fights and can't rwmwmber every detail from memory all the time.
You actually are right Wallin come on again in the 12th stunned Fury for a second too, but I am right in remembering Fury putting it on Wallin in the later rounds around 8,9,10, had him up against the ropes beating him upand hurt him to the body.  Again, you are correct about Fury kinda gassing in 12. I stand by me saying that the fight wasn't as close as some people make out down to the very bad cut and Wallin doing better, Fury doing worse than

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Boxers aren't like MMA fighters. They do not handle cuts as well! It's actually really rare for Boxers to get bad cuts because A) they're not getting domed with point knee and elbow bones and B) their gloves are specifically designed to prevent them, and they are actually pretty good at doing so. Most cuts in Boxing are caused by head clashes, not punches. Fights in Boxing are stopped due to cuts much easier in Boxing also.

It's a psychological thing more than it is physical. A bad cut will, most of the time, put a boxer off their game. I suspect this is because they're thinking about it a lot more, and well they should. A boxer can't resort to wrestling or whatever when they get a bad cut, they have to try and work around it getting exacerbated by throwing only punches against their opponent, who will 100% be targeting it with punches of their own. They have to switch up things in a big way in a game of inches. A bad cut is a much bigger deal in Boxing than MMA, generally.

I think that explains Wallin vs Fury. If that cut hadn't happened, Fury would have absolutely ******* leathered him. Wouldn't have even looked close.

I like watching Fury fights there's always some level of drama to it all, build up or in the ring. Although the judges were very fair to Fury but he really needed those last few rounds as he was getting worked in the early goings, especially rounds 3, 4, and 6. Also Wallin had great success with body->head against Fury but his corner wanted the stoppage so they called for purely head hunting which is really hard against someone with Fury's stature and head movement.

All this emphasis on the really bad cut comes off missed placed, like saying Kell Brook had a hard time against Errol because of his left eye. They caused the injury. Wallin timed Fury bending and hit him with a perfectly placed left hook.

I kind of agree with you there bud.  Boxing matches do get stopped way more often than MMA due to cuts.   I actually wish MMA corners especially, would stop fights more often like they do in boxing. Way to many times I've seen men and women get their ass beat, reciecved tonnes more punishment than necessary going for that moral victory of not getting stopped.

Anyway, a counter point to that. The WORST cut I have ever seen in a fight happened in boxing. Badou Jack head was split open with an axe wound and he fought from around 5 or 6 til the 12th round final bell with this cut ( a ****** hole in his head!!!)

lol yeah, that one was ******* ridiculous. 100% should have been called. You have to wonder how these ringside doctors make a judgement call on whether a fight can proceed in the advent of a horrendous, spurting gash. Or where and how these promotions find so many Dr. Nick Rivieras willing to just completely dispense with any and all morality and ethics so that the show can go on. Imagine if you walked into a GP clinic with that thing and asked 'Am I OK to get into a fistfight in a couple of minutes'?

I think that it's a really good fight.  Obviously Bivol is favourite but I think Zurdo can cause problems. He's HUGE!!!  Throws good combinations,  targets the body consistintly.  If Bivol can't keep him off him and at the end of the jab then it'll be a long punishing fight!!!

Looking forward to seeing it all play out!!!   Hope the undercard has some good fights

He's also a Southpaw. It'll be a interesting fight, especially to see if Bivol can steamroll Zurdo like he's been doing everyone else or if the awkwardness of Zurdo gives him trouble.

Zurdo can fight. He's got that De La Hoya style. He's not as good but that's obviously his model. I think they're similar fighters in a lot of ways but Gilberto straight up does not have the hand speed, combinations and power of Bivol. Bivol can throw as hard moving backwards as forwards, whereas Zurdo really only knows how to throw on the front foot.

Think it's a great fight.  Probably a slobberknocker that ends with Bivol getting a stoppage.

it's a great fight for sure, but I don't see Bivol losing tbh
